Retire?

Brady still has to prove he can carry a franchise without elite defenses, HOFers, and a quality management team to buoy him.

Defense and HOFers win championships, and Brady was buoyed by elite defenses and HOFers his entire career.

With Brady, the Pats fielded the following defenses:

Top 5 Defense 8 times
Top 10 Defense 8 times
Top 15 Defense once
Bottom 20 Defense twice
Bottom 25 Defense - Never
Bottom 30 defense - Never

Compare these stellar defenses to Rodgers terrible defenses. With Rodgers, the Packers fielded the following defenses:

Top 5 Defense once
Top 10 Defense three times
Top 15 Defense three times
Bottom 20 Defense once
Bottom 25 Defense four times
Bottom 30 defense once

Now let’s compare HOFers and potential HOFers:

Brady:

Bill Belichick (Lock)
Rob Gronkowski (Lock)
Ty Law (In)
Randy Moss (In)
Logan Mankins
Rodney Harrison
Richard Seymour
Tedy Bruschi
Vince Wilfork
Adam Vinatieri

Rodgers:
Charles Woodson (In)
Clay Matthews
Julius Peppers
Anyone else? I’ll wait…

The hard truth for Bradyites to acknowledge is that Brady is a QB that landed in a system where he wasn’t asked to do much:

game manage, don’t turn the ball over, move the chains, and trust Belichick’s defenses.

“But Brady is great in the postseason.”

Yeah, let me debunk that.

Check out these playoff stats:

- In 72% of playoff games, Brady threw for two TDs or less

- 63% of playoff games were 200+ or 100+ yard games

- 49% of playoff games were 200+ yard games

- 37% of playoff games were 300+ yards games, but in 12% of those games he equaled or threw more INTs than TDs

- He has only two 400+ yard playoff games
(Including comeback against the Falcons, but he only threw two TDs in that game)

- Record of 1-3 vs. Manning in AFC Championships

(in other words, he had to go around Manning to win those rings)

- Record of 3-5 vs. Brees all-time

- Record of 2-3 vs. Manning (Eli) all-time, and 0-2 in Super Bowls

Note: Stats compiled up to 2020

"Brady's father, Tom Brady Sr., tells KRON4 news his son is not retiring, saying that an online publication started circulating an unsubstantiated rumor".

Well.

Looks like he's not done just yet and why would he be?

13-4 overall.
485/719 (67.5%).
5,316 passing yards (career high).
43 TDs/12 INTs.
QB Rating of 102.1.

These aren't numbers of a QB who's done or finished (turning 45 years old or not) and I'll take the words of Tom Brady's dad over a bunch of Click Bait articles.

And I hardly doubt that Tom Brady would walk away from the game and retire without his 2022 farewell tour because even MJ23 got to enjoy his farewell tour as did Derek Jeter as so many of other All-Time greats (and Brady loves the media/fan attention too much to walk away without warning).

I knew it was too good to be true, he's back!
you forgot to add, " against the 29th ranked schedule"

...
I don't think he has to prove anything at this point. But there was a time when he made his teammates into better players. Now it's pretty clear that those roles have reversed.

Ok fair enough but then lets stop talking up Bill Belichick for making the playoffs (before getting embarrassed/destroyed/exposed during the Wildcard round) when he faced a cupcake schedule ranked only 24th.
but brady played with belichick for 20 years and they always played a bottom of the pile schedule including 6 gimmes in the division that always made sure he had homefield advantage

But Bill Belichick has been a head coach for over 9 years (without Tom Brady) and has a career losing record (without Tom Brady).
take bradys name away from all those winning years in NE. plug in any good QB that you can think of. they also win the same number of superbowls. some would have won more.

right place, right system. right time.

belichick took 2 Parcells teams , put them together and won. but he kept it going for 20 plus years and counting. who cares what he did in clveland 40 years ago. when Parcells coached the Jets, and I love Parcells more then anyone, I never worried about the defense. never once

the only thing for certain is, if he ever does retire, no one will have retired better than he can

Will they give him a year long victory tour fellatiation in all the cities he played in, like the one Jeter got?
I just think the jealous bitch won't retire, but let it leak because he didn't want Roethlisberger to get the headlines.

Bill Russell is the player who holds the record for most rings, with 11 NBA Titles in 13 seasons played with the Boston Celtics.

So that means Brady needs at least four more years...So Ch you are safe for now

Read today that Brady has a $20 million bonus pending him being on the Bucs roster on Feb 4th. If true, a damn good reason for him to be denying that he has retired.

NFL network insider already walking it back . Now stating sources close to Brady instead of previous Brady retiring statements. I knew this dude was to egotistical to leave like that .
