Becton was a topic of conversation this weekend during Shrine Bowl practices. News was reported that Becton weighed over 370 pounds in December as he continued to recover from a knee injury he sustained during the first game of the NFL season.

Two sources — one in Vegas at Shrine practice and another here today in Mobile — told me Becton was actually tipping the scales at over 380 pounds by the end of the season.

Many still believe the former first-round pick, who showed so much potential in 2020, will be able to turn it around and get back on the field in proper condition.

He needs to get down to about 325 max. There just is no other way for this kid to stay healthy unless he losses 50 pounds and muscles all that out.

Instead of lunch the coaches said if you are hungry just do some doughnuts in the parking lot during the snowstorm to pass the time. "Thanks coach picked up a dozen on the way in today.

well we have 8 months to see if he gets in shape or to buy a bigger scale.

At this point,we should tell him to spend the offseason bulking up. Keep fant at LT, AVT at LG, McGovern at C and Becton at RG and RT simultaneously.

Was Mekhi Becton over weight when he played all 3 seasons @ Louisville without missing a single game due to injury?

And was Mekhi Becton out of shape when he ran one of the fastest 40 Yard Dashes amongst O-Linemen within NFL history @ 5.1 seconds before heading into the draft?

And was Mekhi Becton's weight the reason why his Rookie LG got him rolled up and injured his knee when knee injures are apart of Football ala QBs, RBs, WRs, CBs too etc?

@ 6'7 it's only natural that he'll weigh more than most other O-Linemen and yes @ 363 lbs (listed as) I'd like to see him get down to around 340 lbs to 350 lbs but I don't think he's as fat, out of shape and overweight as some are making him out to be and that's because as a Rookie he looked downright dominant.

I do agree. Getting down to 340 lbs/350 lbs @ 6'7 could be ideal but I'm not going to fat sham him to death.
For LT, I think he has to go lower than that.

Anthony Muñoz is probably the greatest Franchise LT within NFL history and he played the position throughout the entire 1980s and into the early 1990s @ 6'6 and only 278 lbs.

The smallest OT I can think of today is Charles Leno of Washington @ 6'4 and only 302 lbs.

@ 6'7 in height I don't think it's fare to ask Mekhi Becton to slim down to 320 lbs.

I'd say 340 lbs would be perfect for him.
When Anthony Munoz played, defensive linemen were smaller (ie nose tackles were well below 300 pounds). Curley Culp is in the HoF and he was only 265 lbs. Lomas Brown was in 7 pro bowls and was 280 lbs.

Anthony Muñoz as arguably the greatest LT of All-Time etc how do you think he'd hold up within today's NFL @ only 278 lbs @ LT?
Well he's probably in his 60s now so... He would have to bulk up. In Brick's second season, they tried to mold him into the style of Lomas Brown, it didn't go so well. So he added like 20 pounds of muscle in the off-season.
