Yea but what about Pitre
luxury pick but not guaranteed, they will draft someone and they supposedly like three guys technically a fourth but he is a linebacker in our defense.
From what I am told the Jets coaching staff believe in both Ashtyn Davis & Jason Pinnock to tandem compete for the starting jobs. Bringing back Lamarcus Joyner and Will Parks will strengthen the depth with guidance and help grow the young ones. Zane Lewis and Jovante Moffat have a chance but are expected to make the practice squad.
Robert Saleh likes to use safety hybrid linebackers which we witnessed last year with the two rookies converting to linebacker from safety. Players like Kai Nauca would be considered shorter or lighter than hybrid combos but he understands the role and fits what Saleh & Ulbrich want to do.
Now does this close the door on drafting a player or two, no not by far. Jets reportedly like Baylor Jalen Pitre, Cincinnati Bryan Cook and from my understanding the third is Illinois Kerby Joseph. The fourth guy is Mimai (OH) safety Sterling Weatherford who at the Senior Bowl played linebacker for the Jets National team. During the Miami (OH) Pro Day Weatherford performed as if he was auditioning for the Jets doing linebacker drills.
