New York Post does not have any knowledge of what teams are interested in free agents that may hit free agency. Sorry but the Jets are not going to sign Brandon Scherff, from what I was told they have little interest in him and his projected $18 M per year asking price.

The Jets are interested in several un-named players on this list just goes to show you the Post is putting more of a personal touch on this ranking rather than actual knowledge.

I never purported that ANY columnist has the keys to the information car of the N.F.L. The operative word in that article was "Prediction".
Where did the ..."Jets will make a splash at WR" come from? If we don't ...we shall have a re -play of Sam Darnold IMO.

I didn't call you out, just making a statement. take it how you want.
But the Prediction part also states teams interested which is inaccurate.

Not here for bickering , just sometimes a difference of opinion, which is healthy and American, and for the Jets to win!

I am open for difference of opinion but a third party that doesn't have correct info is not an opinion of yours.
then let's discuss what do you think the New York Jets should do in free agency.

I would like to see firstly some weapons for Zach. Some help on either or both sides off the line and the secondary. I am not the best at choosing personnel.

the team has a plan they will build through the draft and add key veterans on short term deals that are cost effective. High character players only, they won't risk bringing a player that has off the field issues. you can look at the National Senior Bowl roster to better get an idea of the talent they are looking at to fit this roster.

put it this way building the offensive line is imperative BUT you can not spend first round picks for every position on the offensive line eventually it will cost too much. so expect them to target veteran options to step in as starters and draft one or two players this year. there is an option that they take one in the first round but they also like a couple of guys in day two of the draft, that can play immediately or be a role player with future potential as a starter.

the plan is to build the entire team because weapons for Zach is as important as defense that can get the ball back in the offense's hands. more opportunities on offense gives us more opportunities to control the game.

like i said they have a short list of free agent targets but will focus on the draft. year two of a complete rebuild, it is year three when we can say you have no more excuses show me that you can win. and next off season if there is that player available that can take our roster over the top and help us make the playoffs that is when you go after said player.

What I would like to see (not the dream offseason of every big name, but addressing some needs with smart signings) would be:

Carlton Davis - CB
James Daniels - RG
DJ Jones - DT
Justin Reed - SS

Bring back Berrios, if he doesn't get obscene money elsewhere.

I do think if the money is there, a TE might still be in the works. But I'm not in love with any of the TEs hitting the market, at least not as a fit for this team. A veteran presence might be good, providing a pass-catching safety net for a young QB. But I'm not sold on that. More likely, I could see TE addressed with one of the second rounders.

I'm not upset they didn't trade a day 3 pick for Cooper, mainly because he is getting paid a whole lot of money for what he has done, not what he is going to do. I could see it more likely WR is addressed in the draft.

Edge will almost certainly be a draft priority, somewhere in the first two rounds.

at the end of the day this regime has their plan or their preferences. Joe Douglas focuses on in the trenches early on day one. there are too many voices about what the team is going to do or what they are said about their own needs. the team could use another corner but not a first round pick, in the end I think that will bring trouble down the line. Drafting OL or DL makes sense, but also believe if the opportunity presents itself trading one or both top ten picks should be in the cards. we have Becton, and AVT our last two first in the trenches draft picks.

Just enjoying all the so called experts scrambling while all these trades and QBs moving around to new teams. We can say for certain that the Washington Commanders who pick at 11 are NOT drafting a QB. Getting Wentz they are going to either draft a WR or OL. There are reportedly 7 teams right now that are all in on the Deshaun Watson trade front. Maybe three in on the Jimmy G. front. After these moves are completed then we can focus on who and what teams are left and who is willing to make a move up the ladder for Malik Willis, Matt Corral and/or Sam Howell.

James Daniel would be a steal free agent signing. Young versatile capable blocking in space but team (actually Saleh said it himself) LDT should come back, but I don't think he is more of a role player, backup emergency type role. Daniels with LDT as his backup would be legit. The question is when Becton comes back will they give him a real chance to take back his job from Fant and will Fant be upset if he loses the job and is placed back on the right side?

Becton, AVT, CM, Daniels, Fant could be a solid core for at least one year with a developmental draft pick at center acclimating to the game. Fant has at least three maybe four good years left, so either banking on him re-sign him this off season to an extension. I think Cole Strange should be the pick, let him sit behind McGovern who is under contract for only 2022. But by chance they swing and get Zion Johnson still draft Strange but I think Zion could start day one then cutting or trading McGovern is in play.

I like Carlton Davis, he is a young corner but the cap I don't know what he might be seeking. If he is above 12 per year hard pass. I like Justin Reid, I like Marcus Williams and I like Terrell Edmunds. But we currently have 7 or 8 safeties under contract. Ashtyn Davis, Jason Pinnock, Lamarcus Joyner, Will Park, Kai Nauca, Jovante Moffatt, Elijah Riley, and Zane Lewis. But believe Moffatt and Zane Lewis are practice squad players at best right now. Kai Nauca could play linebacker role. Still leaves us with Ashtyn, Joyner, Pinnock, Park and Riley as the 5 safeties they will carry on the 53.

EDGE I think they need to sign a low-mid level tier guy to bolster just in case Carl Lawson can't or does but get injured again type free agent. Derek Barnett is my top choice. With the draft there are five guys from first round, third round and on day three one that makes sense. Team also needs to sign or draft a IDL along with EDGE.

Spotrac, which projects a “market value” for top free agents, ballparks him at five years, $98 million or $16 million a year, which would make him the seventh-highest-paid corner in the league by average annual value. 96 NFL free agency predictions (three for each team). Calculated Market Value $19.6M AVG. ANNUAL SALARY for Carlton Davis. This is too rich for our team right now.

Minnesota's Mike Hughes is a better all around defensive back (CB) that plays the run and forces fumbles think he had four in 2021. Hughes market value is $10.6 M AVG. ANNUAL SALARY for Mike Hughes. So a contract 4 years $42.4 M is not only more acceptable but affordable now and moving forward. Still believe we can draft a solid player who can take the job from Echols if that is the plan. There are first round talents all the way into the third round because how deep this draft is. I can name plenty of options, but I believe Saleh believes fix the defensive line and add one safety and one linebacker and the coverage will be better.

Your plan for OL is exactly what I would have in mind. Daniels is only, what, 24 or 25? He comes in and fills an immediate need with solid play. Not a superstar, but you can't have all first rounders if you expect to keep them. He would be a solid starter who fits the system, can reach block and slide into this system, and would solidify that spot. LDT steps in as a great depth piece. Fant slides over to RT, though to be honest, I wonder if his skill set would make him a better suited LT and Becton a RT. I'm not sure I want to upset that apple cart right now, but I do like Fant better at LT and Becton at RT.

As for the secondary, I think Davis fits the scheme, and he may come cheaper than Jackson and be a more permanent fix than someone like Gilmour. I love Williams, but that would be SOOOO out of character for JD to invest the kind of money he is going to get in a safety. That is why I like Reid better in that spot.

Your idea at Edge is very much a Douglas move. I could see him doing that at TE, too. He'll make under-the-radar signings to avoid being forced to draft out of need. It won't stop him from drafting those positions, but will shield him in case the draft doesn't line up for him to draft an Edge or TE.

As for IDL, this is why I like Jones. FF will cost more money than he merits, and Jones had higher production in a Saleh scheme than FF had. Could save a couple million, sign Jones, and get at least equal production.

Sportrac's good news is with Daniels. It has him at just under $30MM for four years. I do that in a heartbeat.

You are right about CB. I would not touch Davis at that kind of money. CB isn't nearly enough of a need to merit that investment.

I think the IDL will be JFM & Quinnen so drafting possibly a Winfrey in the second or Matthew Butler in the 4th is an option. Also believe as much as we feel safety is a FA need that will be a draft pick, fans all in on Jalen Pitre from Baylor but Kerby Joseph from Illinois makes more sense. Also feel Alontae Taylor from Tennessee also a better fit. Rookie contracts make more sense for our year two rebuild move. Can always sign a FA next off season that if need be that top dog on offense and defense if need be.

They want to bring back Foley, like Berrios they have given them fair offers just depends on the players if they can get more money and that is what they want they will leave. But the culture that this team is building, if they didn't buy in year one then they are not the right fit for us. I really think Ertz is an option on a one maybe two year deal and believe he has that left in the tank. Drafting one maybe two guys while signing another rookie free agent is in the cards.

Becton is at that top threshold of weight, he is working on getting leaner with more muscle which would make him a better left tackle. He has been working on footwork and leverage with Duke his trainer. They are also working on how to communicate better with slide protections. I am telling you Mekhi is going to come back and he is going to show he is the better player. Fant played well but if Mekhi comes back more agile with his power sorry George back to right tackle.

Is Hughes available? Isn't he on the Chiefs?

Speaking of the Chiefs, I'm not sure if he is an ideal scheme fit, but what about Charvarius Ward? I believe he will be hitting the market.
