Joe Douglas reportedly offered a base line contract 3 years $19.5 M not sure the guarantees basically his market value is $5.9 annual. Jets offered him roughly $6.5 M annual. But his agent who is in Miami. Braxton lives in Miami and went to school in Miami, makes sense he could sign there. Sucks I know but as much as we liked him he is replaceable. End of the day this story is unconfirmed until it is confirmed.
Like you said, he’s replaceable and easily from this draft . Trouble is though it might cause us to have to sign someone in free agency .
That is a completely reasonable offer for Berrios. Yet I know if Miami gives him $8MM per year, Jets fans will bash Douglas for being cheap.
Florida taxes also makes anything more than the Jets a lot more because of the taxes in New York/New Jersey take a chunk out. So $6.5 here minus what $2.15 M for taxes where Florida if they offer him $7.5 M annual his tax minus would be what about $500 K that is a big difference.
Brax is a handsome, and well spoken kid. His Agent should get his @$$ out of Miami and get this kid some advertising deals to make up for the NY taxation. Those types of deals would be able to be parlayed into jobs in the booth when he is finished playing... IMHO.
a.) what JD offered is completely reasonable for what the Jets used him within their offense and special teams.
b.) but 8mm is also reasonable, because he is going to be somebody's security blanket... why not Zach's?
c.) JD said he made a mistake with Robby; i disagree, because Robby isn't that good of a "football player"... Brax is a "football player" first, and the criticisms, might be warranted, because Brax is one of those glue type of players in addition to having 3 distinct roles on our team that he performs.
we've all played on teams even if last played at the high school level; Brax is one of those guys at any level that even the stars of the team look around to make sure he suited up, because he's a game time player.
That is true. The taxes are a pretty significant factor.
