Jets OL coach John Benton arrested for DUI.

Jets assistant coach John Benton was arrested and charged with driving under the influence late Thursday night.

Benton, 58, was pulled over by the New Jersey State Police shortly before midnight Thursday on I-287 in Morristown for a motor vehicle violation. The police suspected he was under the influence and he was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI. Benton was processed and released, according to a police spokesman.

“We are aware of the situation and have no further comment,” a Jets spokesman said.

Not setting a very good example for the young players. Drinking...............no problem if not excessive, but drinking and driving is a definite NO NO.

If you didn't know I can not support people that are this blatant arrogant and selfish where there is so many different ways of traveling for NFL players and personnel. Drinking and driving should be severely punished by anyone that is under the NFL umbrella. He better be relieved of his job, no fines, no suspension fucking fire his ass. Once is too many for people like me who were a victim of people who think they can drive while under the influence.

I myself have had a few back when I used to and gotten behind the wheel . By His Grace I was covered so I see it from a different perspective. It happens, so all I can say is thank God no body was hurt before he got stopped.

You are correct, it was fortunate that no one was hurt physically, but.............the team image takes a big hit because of his poor judgement.

While I dont condone drunk driving outside a wide open range alone. Im not one to not give a person 1 break as long as he understands how serious it could have been like Raiders young star killed a person and still wont accept it. I say give him a chance but any more of drinking driving and gone. How many of us has had a few to many and drove home thinking you were fine but really was over limit? 3 beers in 1 hr and over limit. 2 family are troopers and they think people need to see what happens at wrecks and aftermath over loss.

Having been hit by a drunk driver last year and hospitalized, I went from considering DUI to be wrong to having a hostile view towards DUI. I hope he does some jail time...but it probably won't happen.

I’m not sure but I’d guess no.?
The Players Association takes care of this and I doubt coaches are in that association .

They might not have the same services, but I know they have access as I do to Lyft or Uber.
