turnovers. Robert Saleh wants an aggressive defensive that produces turnovers. not so much the interceptions but forced and recover fumbles. Whitehead knows how to dislodge the ball from the ball carrier and understands how to strip the ball.
nah they said well one specific person says he is not up to snuff talent and a lot of people bended to his reply. understand interceptions are not the only factor from a safety.
maybe I was wrong? but family member is Jets all time great CB, plus he is a Super Bowl Champion and thought his upside would be beneficial to a young growing secondary. oh and the other thing he would be affordable.
So it’s your belief that if these 2 guys work out they will be starting in the defensive secondary
I guarantee DJ Reed will replace Brandin Echols as the perimeter starter with Bryce Hall unless they draft someone in the early rounds which I doubt now with that signing. Brandin Echols will be the fourth corner in dime scenarios as many have stated prior to free agency. Echols could compete to take the other perimeter job which fans will be irate but they are building on potential and trying to grow the secondary.
As of right now I still expect to draft both safety and corner but on day 3. Safety might double down but one could convert to linebacker as the other would contend to start across from Whitehead. In this defense they utilize more than one safety at any given time. Reasons for Joyner and Parks return. But Parks more of a special teams guy.
Kai Nauca will play special teams but could double down at linebacker. So many different concepts and the potential is beyond knowledgeable at the moment. Players will be put on practice squad and Saleh loves to reward players who take it (aka earn it) competition with real rewards not just fiction so called training camp battles to sell off season tickets.
