that's a great point. IMO, Becton's sophomore season wasn't ruined by the injury. it was what Lawson was doing with MB's head.
Sure, he said the right things... "iron sharpens iron", and what not. But he sounded overwhelmed, defeated, and depressed.
the bigger the deal the press and team made of Lawson, the more MB withdrew.
i don't blame him. he was a kid in a big city who wasn't used to the press, he wasn't used to the criticism, and honestly just looked lost as a young man... the one thing he had as a rookie was his dominance; and Lawson made mincemeat of that.
i hope (1.) his home life, and (2.) getting past the injury give him some direction/perspective/confidence as a young person. those combined with his "revenge tour attitude" will be something to see.
