Thoughts on game 1

I only saw the second half.

Joe Flacco needs to be retired. His release is too slow among other things. Seriously, play Mike White. Heck, even sign Mason Rudolph.
Michael Carter is better than Breece Hall.
The kicker needs to be replaced.

OPI's were not being called. After the bs DPI called against the Ravens on a Jets pushing off, the Ravens were throwing at underneath coverage knowing that the receivers can get separation without getting called for OPI.

On the other hand ...

Building this team into a division winner is more important than maybe hoping to sneak into a wildcard in any given year. If this is right, today was one of the biggest wins in many years. If they are to reach those heights in the near future, they need the top 4 picks this year to star. What I saw for each one of them today was very encouraging indeed.

These are the '83 Mets. Not much winning, but you see it coming.

You have to fix mistakes as you see them. It's synergetic because player will find their teammates more reliable and better know what to expect. Honestly, we shouldn't put Flacco on the field.

The '83 Mets were Darryl Strawberry and Hernandez on a AAA squad. They didn't gel because they needed more time, they gelled because they got Gooden, Carter, and a slew of other pitchers.

Well, admittedly apples and oranges, but in '83 it was waaaaaay more than Keith and Straw, you saw Gooden (pitched at Shea that year), Dykstra, Tim Leary, Darling, Oquendo, Gibbons, Winningham, Jefferson, Backman, Innes, Tibbs and much more all on their way. First time in years, or maybe even ever for the franchise. You knew at least some of them would contribute big time. Fill in a few spaces when these guys are ready and you have a champion.

I'm seeing the same thing here with this draft (just about all of it) and last year's showing much more than mediocre talent.

Of course, the caveat is that, according to the wife, I am just about always wrong, but just in case I'm not, I hereby revive the following slogan for 2022:

CATCH THE RISING STARS

the new guys play was encouraging because they haven’t been here long enough to have the life sucked out of them by this cursed franchise.

today sucked. We are not making it to Halloween @Bigmoe . These rookies will do well on there next team.

we brought in good players but we got the same result as always. Look at all the other games today. What teams play will be the butt of all the jokes tomorrow. Easy choice. The jets

and the nfc sucks ass. brady can play from a wheel chair and win.

I went to the gr store after the game and couldn’t even where my shirt that says, “My team makes me drink”. We were that bad.

look. If we don’t start at worst, 2-2, no one on this team will believe in themselves and the curse will live on. And that means winning 2 out of 3. Like that would ever happen. Cursed cursed cursed

There was some promise with how the defense played in the first half. Unfortunately, good play from one facet of the game in one half is not enough, but it is a glimmer.

I guess the other glimmer came from the ground game. Mitchell looked very good at RT. Fant at LT, not so much. And aside from the fumble, the Carter/Hall combo looks very promising.

As long time Jet fans, if we were being honest before the game and we’re asked to write a script of what would happen in the game, would we have not guessed exactly what we got?

So , we may be able to be in some games for a half

The funny thing is that one year ago, most of this board was like trust the process and wins didn't matter...even in 2022 because we were "building the right way" And I was like Joe Douglas-into-a-hole.

One year later, my opinion of Douglas has improved because of the off-season while everyone is doom and gloom.

Wins matter whether you're rebuilding or not rebuilding. Imagine if someone told you to invest $78,000 promising that in 3 years it would be worth $70,000. You wouldn't exactly make that investment. Yet last season regarding this team, I think that most of the board would have been willing to do so.

People need to get off of the rollercoaster and realize that last year wasn't that good and this year isn't that bad...yet. It's still only 1 loss.

But I digress. There have been revealed some good things and bad things about this team. Going forward, the team has to figure out how to fix the problems. Did we learn anything useful this past Sunday?

I think one of the solutions to many of the problems is benching Flacco. Will Saleh do this? Probably not. And at some point, he'll be held accountable. 4-14 or 4 wins out of 18 games isn't even a good batting average. To add perspective, if a baseball manager did that, the team's record would be 36-126 if the manager and GM lasted that long.. We cannot continue like last season. It's simply not acceptable. Saleh's job is safe until the end of the season I suppose. But if he's not willing to make necessary changes at qb to right the ship then he probably should be shown the door.

The one thing that I'm optimistic about regarding Saleh is that he lies in his pressers. And so his saying in a presser that Flacco is still the starter doesn't carry a lot of weight.

But again, I digress. Yes @cheaterhater , we may be able to be in some games for a half.

I like JD. I like what he’s doing. I think he’s doing it right

I even like Saleh

the powers of the universe have combined to still have the Jets be the Jets

this is JD vs. the curse. The curse is winning

no I’m not nuts

Curious George

- The team played hard and you can see the true potential in all our young players. I’d say from rookies to fifth year guys. Except for Bryce Hall
- Our oline sucks and truly needs help.
- Our defense did the best they could and with a little offense to help them, we may have actually won that game. This is where Zach Wilson comes in.
- Safety Joyner needs to be benched. Why is he playing?
- Sauce is truly the truth. Must point him out separately.
- G. Wilson should be starting or at least get 40-50 snaps a game. Starting or not!
- Breece Hall and M. Carter are the perfect combination of RBs. They will be fun to watch. Just have to get them the ball a lot more.
- Flacco is not Vinny T, like I’ve been saying all along and I can’t wait till Zach returns. I’d rather us lose with Zach than Flacco. ATLEAST we’ll see the true potential or none of Zach.

Last 2 things I forgot to mention:
- The coaching, especially on the offense is impossible to judge. They have the weapons to make it happen now but Flacco is a statue, the check down king and he just isn’t good at all. Plus the oline gives him no time to do much.
- Punter and kicker is an issue also.
