Official Game Thread: Baltimore Ravens at New York Jets

Last night was bad stuff. 8:30 here in Osaka so fairly sleep deprived, maybe I've just not absorbed it all yet, but apart from the OL (read: Fant) and some questionable offensive game planning there were a lot of positives.
This fanbase implodes so quickly; by the 2nd quarter people in my group chat were calling for Mike White to start next week, Saleh to be fired, and the season to be over.
Any other team who were starting their age-d back up QB and their 3rd string tackle in the first game of the year would be able to parse this off as 'week 1' and move on from there.
Need to relax, guys. JD needs to get on the phone immediately and get another kicker and punter in the building. Need to hope Fant bounces back; up til 4 weeks ago he was the starting LT and we were all fine with that; no point talking any QB movement until Zach is ready to go because - and I can't say this often enough - Mike White is shit.

Defense looked good to me today. Corners were outstanding. Safeties…. Not so much
I thought Mitchell played well. Fant…not so much.
The interior OL was horrific……
Flacco was ok….. he was pressured badly today

Quincy showed improvement in his style and quickly. Seems like yesterday when he tackled a runner on the way to the bench.
Excellent field speed.

The D looked okay. They played well enough to win the game if the O was competitive. Same old stuff right? D plays hard, O sucks. D is on the Field too long because O sucks and gives up the big play. Almost like a script. Hopefully Flacco will get better as the Season goes on but they looked like more than the QB was out of sync. Starting to doubt the Offensive scheme a little. Seems like the players they picked do not fit the scheme. Does that sound right? Because it sure looks that way........at least to me.

a lot of the problem was proper sequencing of the plays called........they took a bad sack on 1st down after successful runs.....thus putting them behind the 8-ball on that drive. Part of it was the weather as it affected catchability. Too often the 3rd downs were long......making them impossible given the makeshift protection. The OC needs to quickly get a better grip on what to call and when. It's not like the Jets had WRs running free either.......and maybe when they did the protection broke down........need to toss it up to just one of those days....Murphy's Law.

Shoot - even when they did seemingly convert a 3rd down near the half, the TE fumbled and Wilson had to save the FG try by getting the loose ball......which by then of course rolled the wrong way and brought up 4th down. One of those days.

No I don’t think so. Two things were the issue for me:

1. Oline issues as usual. They haven’t fixed it yet.

2. Flacco is old as fuck, I mobile as hell to even give himself a extra second or two to see the field, he’s Mr. check down and he’s just not good overall.

thing is, nobody ever drops a pass that he throws and whoever he hands off to gets at least 5 yards

while it is illegal to touch him, on the few occasions that he gets touched, he rips into whoever let him get hit and then nobody gets near him again.

last night first play, throws behind line of scrimmage receiver runs for 25 yards. on 1 series, he handed off 3 straight times and got a first down. Whatever he did, worked. Defensively he even held the cowboys to 3 points while registering both a sack and an int

And if he ripped into one of our lineman because they let him get hit they’d tell him to go fuck himself. And imagine what Brady would do if his receivers dropped passes like ours do

we just are cursed. Today on wfan they were saying how there’s no way we can be as bad as last year with all the talent we added. Really? What happens when the new guys learn how to play like a Jet.

it’s not Flaccos fault Zach can’t stay on the field. And it’s not anyones fault that every offensive lineman that we sign gets injured. Someone here already pointed out that linemen usually play for 15 years without getting hurt

When Fitz was on the Jets , I thought for sure as an Ivy League grad living so close to Wall St., he would latch on to a bank or brokerage, they'd slap his name on a letterhead,and he'd pull down some 7 figures a year. He continued playing.
