5 greatest Jets QBs

1 Namath, 2. O’Brien 3. Pennington 4. Testaverde 5. Sánchez! Now to be honest Namath was so much better than these other 4 that they were back ups at best compared to Namath who had knee problems and when players could take QBs and WRs out trying to injure them. The 4 back ups had strong arms but Pennington. None of top 4 were accurate passers and just throw ball deep and hope WR could fight off CBS to get the ball. Pretty sad the rest after top 5 and some was great at one time but when Jets got them, they were done. Farve and Boomer was the top of these QBs past there good years. So Jets QBs outside Namath was a bunch of backups QBs. So why do Jets fans so happy and desperate to just get to Playoffs with a backup QB instead of Drafting , developing a Franchise QB that could give us Super Bowl? Must be because so desperate that Playoffs has become us Jets fans Super Bowl . The new limit to development of Franchise Drafted QB is 20 games and kicked to curb for a 4 year backup. Good luck getting any top QB in College to come to Jets and I think the old way like Elway and Kelly refused to go to teams that Drafted them. Jets will be one of those career killing team for QBs

Other than Broadway Joe, this is a pretty sad list! Not that much to be proud of here. Joe career was also quite up and down to be honest! Chad could have been a great or a very good QB but injuries killed that. Sanchez was actually less than average to be truthful. He was serviceable at best. Ken O’Brien did pretty well but nothing special either!

Vinny T wasn’t even our drafted QB or a signed free agent in his prime. He was signed at the end of his career and did well with us but not so well with his other teams. So do we really want to include him on this list. Jets QB history is nothing compared to other teams like the Packers, 49ers, Giants, Steelers, Colts, Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders and a few more!

Sad, sad, sad list we have here! Hopefully this changes soon!

5 greatest Jets QBs

Now that is one of the worst thread titles ever

Especially when we’ve only had
1
And don’t come at me with his stats
Today’s QB stats don’t play back then
They would have never survived the game or style of play
How dare you mention Sanchize in the same thread as Joe Willie

Honestly, I can't find five Jet QB's to consider great. Namath is considered by many as #1. His passing yards still rank 1st and he last played 46 years ago. How many of us are aware that Namath leads the team in interceptions, completed only half of his passes, and had a losing record (60-61-4)? That is the state of this franchise.

Maynard leads the Jets in Receptions and yardage, and he last played 50 years ago. These records were complied during a 14 game season when it was a run first league. In other words, Jets haven't done shit for decades. No wonder why they are hated by many.

OB is second. But he took a lot of sacks... a lot. Penny was the most accurate and almost as injury prone as Namath. His passes had much anticipation. He had the potential to surpass Namath's records had he stayed on the field, and the way the team dumped him for Farve helped get rid of Mangini.

After that, there are only honorable mentions: Testaverde had one good year leading a Parcells team to the title game, had everyone hopes up to do damage the following year and tears his Achilles game one in '99. Fitzmagic had one of the best statistical years ever as a Jet. He was equally exciting as he was disappointing. Sanchez reminds me exactly what we're doing to win this year. A solid run game to compliment a stingy defense. The difference is we had a better OL back then. He doesn't make this list.

1 Namath for what he did for the AFL before the merger.
2 OB
2 Penny (a tie)
4 Testaverde
4 Fitz (a tie)

I would put Todd ahead of Sanchez. But what a dog show. The Bills had Jim Kelly, Josh Allen, Joe Ferguson, Kemp, Flutie. The patriots since 2000. Brady, Bledsoe, Cassell, Garroppolo, the guy on the Browns. The Dolphins, Marino, Griese, Morrall, Tua, Pennington.
