Does anyone know if any of the Jets hater reporters are behind this? Cimini? Mehta? Just asking. Does anyone have any idea if the press is involved?

Little John Flowers -- I don't think any of the media is involved but I do know they love that stuff so they could write more "doomsday" articles. I think they love creating pressure on our coaches, gms in order to somehow get them to crack and then they have a real story on their hands.

why do you ask? do you think they are?

Just suspicious for the reasons you mentioned and then some. They're handing out towels for the last game. Pretty organized and ... it appears well-funded. I'm for protests, but I don't think Idzik should be fired. The criticism of Idzik is unrelenting, and sometimes seems almost personal. I also think it's a little overboard.

Whoever is behind it should surface. Show yourself. Why not?

Mehta has had an axe to grind since Idzik took over. However, I don't think he is behind any of this stuff.

Probably not. But I still wonder who's behind this? Why hide your identity? It just raises suspicion.

A guy hired in January 2013 generating protests and criticism like this? He selected Geno which in hindsight turned out to be a bad pick. QBs in the 2d round are always a long shot (roughly 1 in 5 turn out to be franchise QBs). He whiffed on wide outs or so it appears.

Mehta is a hack but I doubt dumb enough to do this. He would lose more credibility and future regimes won't let him in the building thus losing his job. At that point he can hide behind twitter or try to be coherent here which I doubt he can even do

Based on the posts at JN and Thank God not here, the "founders of this noble cause" appear to be five Richie Riches with Chase Club PSL seats who claim to have made no money from the billboard deal and who claim to be giving away dopey towels while selling them for up to 100 bucks plus shipping at their website.

The best part about them is they have stated that if John Idzik is not fired, they will no longer go to games, default on their fully paid 25K per seat PSLs and launch some new and more dastardly scheme such as boycotts or sit down strikes or maybe riots to get their way

It may be worth retaining Idzik just for the joy of them losing 125K and no longer being in the stadium.

Mehta, Cimini and Co are not involved although there seems to be a substantial interest in media attention.

What we should be glad about is that, unlike at JN and former JI, these "fighters for the cause" have not hijacked and derailed multiple threads with the billboard and towels extravaganza

sg3 they sound ridiculous and if anyone is dumb enough to buy those towels for $100 a pop, shame on them. I'm okay with what they are doing but if they are unsuccessful in getting idzik ousted, they should stop at least until he messes up the following year. We can't have this sideshow run all throughout the offseason. Too much of a distraction.

OK so that pretty much explains that. But now can someone explain the intense criticism of Idzik? Has he been that bad? I see three 1st rounders (Richardson, Milliner and Pryor) and that's not plane worthy, or towel worthy. Winters looked horrible, but Aboushi looks at least ok. Amaro looks good. McDougle is hurt. Shaq Evans is hurt. Saunders is a mystery, and obviously not a great choice. But he was a 4th rounder. Did we expect Leon Washington? Reilly at round 7 looks ok. Ivory was a great pick up with a 4th. Who could have foreseen that Patterson would commit career suicide and not show for a game? Who could predict that Goodson and his friends would make like Cheech and Chong (with weapons) on a NJ highway?

They crucified him for not selecting a decent wide out in the draft. Yet after he traded for Harvin, the articles described the acquisition as an act of desperation.

Even if you were to grade Idzik below average (and I don't see that) is the criticism justified?

Little John Flowers -- I must say that the criticism that John Idzik has been getting so soon into his career is like nothing I have ever seen before. I think the reason everyone has their pitch forks out and ready to storm the castle is because we all knew what our weaknesses were heading into this season but Idzik did not address them. We were extremely weak at WR and at a WR heavy draft, we didn't select one until round 4 and the ones that we did select were not at all productive for us. He had the opportunity to select a few a impact players in the later rounds but he failed to do so. It's just frustrating to watch players like Martavis Bryant, taken in the fourth round have the season that he is having.

We had such a young team last season and we finished 8-8, Idzik's job as a GM is to build on that and improve the team but instead he might have made it worse. He also held on to $20M in cap space which could have been used to improve the team.

A lot of it may have to do with Rex Ryan being such a likable personality. Everyone likes Rex and wanted him to succeed due to his charismatic personality but we know it's time for him to go after four unsuccessful seasons. The media, fans are putting the loss of Ryan on Idzik.

The media loves Ryan, they will probably never find a personality like him coaching in the NFL again so maybe they are bashing Idzik in case they can convince Woody, that it wasn't Ryan's fault.

Who really knows.....

EDIT: I forgot to mention our CB situation. how the hell can I forget that. I shouldn't get into it or I will write an essay. Our best CB this year is Marcus Williams who was signed off the streets a few weeks ago. He couldn't have predicted Milliner and McDougle getting hurt but he should of had a better second option than Patterson who was never more than a #3 CB everywhere else he has played.

I think his thinking was: after Watkins, Beckham and Evans, the difference between wide receivers was pretty close, so he figured he could get a chance at a decent wide out in rounds 4-5 and chose Evans and Saunders. I kinda agree with that thinking because many people were hoping for Marquise Lee, and he's not having a super year (although I haven't checked lately). In retrospect this strategy obviously didn't work out. He should have traded up for Beckham or Evans. So he deserves criticism, but ... planes?? Towels??

The CB situation. Revis? we don't know whose call that was. They went after that CB from the Colts (who fit Rex's scheme) and he turned them down. Patterson was never great, but he was underrated. His problem was staying healthy. Who could have predicted that Cro would have such a great year? Imagine if Idzik signed him and he repeated last year's performance?

Last year during the FA period, the posts on the old JI were calling for the many different CBs ... several of those CB signings haven't turned out well. But now the posts/fans/articles only look at the successful signings. Still, that's on Idzik. But planes? Belichick used Wide outs at corner and won.

I think the big problem is that he struck out with the Geno pick. That's a killer. We just don't have a QB.

But what star QB could function well when he is always rushed or hit? No QB can look good lying on his back and trying to pass the ball. Throw in miserable play calling and a dedication to Ground and Pound and a lack of passing rhythm and you will have a failed QB. Sanchez looks completely different since he escaped WRECKS et al.

He effed up by keeping Rex(I thought he should), not bringing a QB that can teach Geno and make him earn the starting position and sitting by and watching the ship sink and not coming out and saying something of substance....if he came out with a good PR campaign back then his job wouldn't be discussed now...by not being in front of this SH!T storm he looks confused, inept and lost

Sanchez was one of the least pressured QBs with the Jets. Yet his accuracy % was still awful ... every year. As was his QB rating, fumbles and interceptions.

Bottom of the pack under pressure.
Bottom of the pack when he was well protected.
He had one of the best O-lines and had a great running game to help.

If he's turned it around it's because he's improved his play. His interception % doesn't show that he's improved. His QB rating is somewhat higher so we'll see.

that's not really true as you presented it. If you pick the towel up at a designated location, it's free. The $100 figure is for 100 towels, not for 1, and only if they mail it to you. Not making a whole lot of money at $1 per towel

No problem...one towel is "free" only to people who show game tickets to the 12/21 game..minimum ticket cost 25 bucks after they either drive or take a bus or train to a designated sports bar...a couple dollars more..so let's just say free for 28 bucks minimum

If you go to the game, your transportation cost jumps to 20 plus 25 parking making the cost of your "free" towel advertising the Billboard Boys website a mere $70 minimum.

And the most laughable part of this ill advised publicity stunt is that more than half of the wonderful towels will become the treasured possession of Patriot fans.

LOL

C'mon Sg, that person would be going to the game anyhow, and spending the same money. If you pick the towel up, it's free. Period.

Don't see it as a publicity stunt, as mentioned above the people have remained somewhat unknown. Your right in that they seem to be rather well heeled, as this seems to be costing them money.

I don't really care who they are. i find the whole drama pretty entertaining. Any thing that gets Idzik out of here. I'm in
