Jets can’t Draft and Develop a QB

I think Jets has proven to me anyways , that they don’t know who to draft at QB and even if they got a high risk QB Jets don’t know how to develop a QB. Look at the history of Jets QBs as proof. Either an average or old Vet past prime QB is what they get! Not since Namath has Jets had to top ten QB to get to a Superbowl let alone zero chance of winning one. 49ers got a third QB behind Zach and knew not to start him in first year!! 49 WRs had a good O Line -WRs and RB and still didn’t start their Rookie QB! So Jets do the opposite and take their high risk reward QB and starts him behind a pile of crap and in 2 nd year still don’t fix it . So bad a back up gets his ribs busted. No leadership on offense and no great QB. I’m not waiting for Jets to draft another QB because even if they got Trevor Lawrence and did what the did to Zach Trevor would be in same situation from fans and media. What a mess! Jets a team that can’t draft and develop a QB and Jets history of QB s and Superbowl wins…. Lmao shows inept by Jets. Next time you draft a high risk look to other teams and how to develop the kid.

There are several facets to this. I think in large part, you are right. But it needs to be examined why that is. Different front offices, different coaching staffs, yet the same bad results. So why?

1. They pick the wrong guys. I mean, aside from Geno a decade later in Seattle, has any Jets drafted QB that has been a bust here ever gone and done anything with anyone else?

2. The constant turnover in coaching staffs. Remember how many systems Darnold had to deal with when he came to the Jets?

3. Jets fans. As a Jets fan, I can honestly say Jets fans are the worst. If a young QB takes more than five plays to develop, they call him a bust. There is zero patience with actually letting a QB develop (not that the QBs the Jets have drafted have been worth developing). Worse yet, the over-the-top calling every coaching staff and front office the worst ever, the billboards and planes, the calls into sports radio, all that stuff leads to more frequent turnover. What happens with frequent turnover? See point 2.

The offensive line was a bunch of third and fourth stringers and the real QB got killed by the Bills. Take away any good team's best QB and first four tackles on the depth chart and see if they don't take a step back.

Drafting QBs just don’t seem to work out for the Jets. Not since Joe Broadway anyway! At least not a high round draft pick. Any QB drafted above the 3rd round will come with expectations and it just doesn’t seem to work out for the Jets that way. Draft a QB from the 5th-7th round and maybe we’ll hit on a gem. No expectations, the QB can sit and learn 2-3 years if necessary and grow to being someone good to maybe even great. Even a undrafted rookie might be the best move. Who knows at this point!

I think he means after being 6-2 and 7-3 with the bears, lions, and jags at home still left on our schedule. Those teams suck as bad as us and losing to the last 2 back to back at home with playoffs on the line is disgraceful no matter who’s injured. I believe most of our wins came with most of those injuries

I don't know if it was playoffs or bust, but having a complete collapse shows they probably are closer to the collapse than the 6-3 start. We are in year 3 of the rebuild yet we have to start all over at QB. Now if they win the last two then that will show they haven't quit which I think they have. With the amount of talent that was brought in a 7-10 record would be a disaster. 9-8 would be something to build on. Look at how the Jags and Lions started and now they have same record as Jets. Their arrow is point up. The Jets arrow is pointing down again. When you win your games sometimes matters.
