Lets hear what everyone thinks about these QB's...
1. Derek Carr. He will play with a chip on his shoulder. He has been pretty consistent , but not spectacular. Quality leader. Not sure if he is mentally tough enough for NY. He hasn't been good in cold weather in his career. Rarely injured. The cost to get him won't be much in draft capital because they will be releasing him anyway. Solves QB for 4 years. Pair him with Greg Olsen as OC and this would be my top choice if he can handle NY.
2. Lamar Jackson. The excitement is high with Lamar, but he will be injured with his style. The cost for the contract and draft picks will be way too high. Special offense and OC has to be hired. Red flags on this injury IMO.
3. Jimmy G. With LaFleur gone, I'm not sure he will be the top choice. He is also injured a lot. He is consistent, but also not spectacular. The cost to get him will be low.
4. Minshew. Not good enough period.
5. Andy Dalton. Just an average starter. Not going to put the Jets over the top IMO. One year starter at best.
I can't think of any other veteran QB's that I would want. Who does everyone else want?
After putting some careful thought into this, I have determined that the next starting QB will miss games, if for nothing else, the concussion protocol. So we need 2 good QBs instead of one great QB.
1. Derek Carr - A possibility
2. Lamar Jackson - A king's ransom and diminishing returns as mobile QBs typically offer.
3. Jimmy G - A possibility
4. Minshew - A possibility
5. Dalton - Pass. He's a caretaker
Re-sign Mike White.
Zach Wilson is an unknown at this point. I don't believe the book is closed on his career but he may never develop into anything. I think his problems are mental and are rooted in the 2021 2nd patriots game. Saleh's right, he needs to go somewhere and read a book. Lafleur never fixed this in a year and a half. It may not be fixable.
