Iconic. Imagine, a kids game played on a dirt field .
Never got to see him play, but watched plenty of videos on him. Guy was the greatest. RIP Jim

1,000 yd rusher every season in a 12 game schedule. Players rave now that they run for a 1,000 yds in a 17 game schedule. Met him at the NFL in the city in 68. At the time, my older sister was working for Pete Rozelle. Signed a football and hat for me. A really great person.

I still have the football, sister has the hat. Memorabilia was not so big back then. I had a lot of Colt Memorabilia as she dated a backup Colt QB Marty Domres (sp). I have all the posters and paperweights of the first 9 Super Bowls. Didn't get into collecting sports Memorabilia till 1986. Could have killed myself for not keeping all that I had when she worked for the NFL

I too wish I kept the Jets program and ticket stubs from when OJ broke the 2,000 yard barrier at Shea on that cold day with snow flurries.
He was my neighbor at one time....lived five houses down the road. Pete that was lol
Cards Ended his career. Joe Robb had a fight with him......tossed from the game & he retired a few weeks later.....The cardinals could do that to anyone lol
The only thing I remember us getting from Rozelle. His cat had kittens and we got one. Surprisingly our Doberman loved playing with it.
