Actually have to go all the way back to Kotite to find a GM who has done worse than Douglas.
Look at his winning percentage since his arrival. There may be 3 worse in franchise history.
That’s the ridiculous thing. While he’s done pretty darn good at everything except Zach and the o line, we still suck. I don’t remember any of the other gms doing much good at all. We still sucked then too
looks like a cursed franchise to me
in truth. He picked Zach. Picking a qb high and having him be a winner is not a high odds of success. That said, Zach looks to be the worst of the high qb picks. But I will say this also. Is Josh Allen a winner? Sure he’s a hell of a lot better than Zach, but he single handedly gives away some big games. Last week to name one. He may never win a superbowl
as for the o line? if you want a good o lineman you have to draft one. Teams with good ones just don’t let them go. Douglas has done well drafting. It’s the other lineman that he brought in that he’s failed at. Those guys are guys that aren’t important enough to their current teams to keep. So he’s picking from a low tier group. Some of those guys when he brought them in, guys here were happy about.
he hasn’t totally ignored the line like other gm’s. He just brought in guys who haven’t lived up to hopes
its all just the luck of the jets. Or bad luck of the jets. Or maybe curses are real. Who the hell knows.? All I know,is no matter who comes to this team, we get the same result
While I knew this most likely will not go down like this, my dream scenario is for Rodgers to come back next year full strength and give us 1-2 years of excellent play. They get rid of Zach OFCOURSE and draft a QB this coming draft to learn from Rodgers. Now when I say draft a QB, I don't mean in the first round. Not even the 2nd, 3rd or 4th. I'm talking like the 5th round or worse. It can even be an undrafted rookie. Just as long as he is a young, 20-23-year-old that can sit and learn from Rodgers and when it's his time, he's ready to go.
They Jets are horrible at drafting QBs and always have been. With the exception of Broadway Joe. Every other one has been a bust or average at best. Pennington was the exception to that. He could have been at least an above average to great QB, but he couldn't stay healthy. So, to reiterate it again, the Jets are horrible at drafting QBs. So maybe if they draft one in the 5th round or worse, they can get it right this time. Someone we're not really expecting anything from, a project back up at best but he turns out to be our guy. Maybe this might be the only way it happens for us.
IMO, the Jets need to use all the higher draft picks on the olinemen and everyone else but the QB, from this point on. There will be a ton of QBs coming out this year but 9 times out of 10, any QB they draft in the 1st to 2nd round will turn out to be garbage. That's just the way it goes with us. 3rd round and 4th round will be the same damn way. Maybe even the 5th! The Jets need to pull off a Brock Purdy or Tom Brady. Maybe at this point, it's the only way.

He had a great draft last year. 2 terrible drafts prior and a questionable draft this year.
Would you believe he used 2 first rounders,1 second round pick ,2 third round picks and 2 4th round picks on o line. 7 premium picks.......
He has whiffed on most of not all of his FA signings.
We had several FA lineman come in but let them walk and they are thriving. But we wanted 2 year deals not 3.

Well the Pats just picked Will Grier off Bengals PS. I wish the Jets would have grabbed him as insurance, but it looks like Coach Rah Rah wants to go down with the ship.
Look, like him or not (I don't, really), Carson Wentz is sitting home planting tulip bulbs for next Spring. JD could sign him for nearly nothing. To me, Wentz makes the most sense. If JD/Saleh had a brain collectively, they would have already signed Wentz to get him ready for next week in KC. This week, we go with Bone Boy Zach and pray. But next week, it would have been Wentz with Boyle as backup.
Maybe Wentz doesn't want to play.
Anybody ask him? I would really like to know.

As far as I can see Grier has played one good game in years and that was in the last preseason and no doubt against scrubs, in real games, he has been worse than Zach and that takes some doing.

Probably not. But the guy is 30 years-old, so still has some football left. And he's the best QB option out there. Ah, maybe Wentz makes enough cash as a Prince Harry lookalike at bachelorette parties, corporate events, etc.
Jets front office reached out to Chad Henne and Colt McCoy this past week. JD not exploring trade market for potential vet. backup that could replace Wilson when he flames out.

I could go with Wentz. Bring him in to back up Zach and if Zach can’t hack (Hackett) it, Wentz takes over.
