The Jets have a solid defensive core but when looking at the opposite side of the ball there are way too many veteran options that were brought in for Aaron Rodgers but with AR down they need to be looking at getting better options to surround with Zach Wilson. Lazard is not going anywhere not with his contract this or next year but other players like Randall Cobb, Mecole Hardman are movable contracts and so far been more of pawns then additions on offense.
CJ Uzomah is a quality locker room player but on the field he is taking snaps away from Jeremy Ruckert, even though Conklin is the number one tight end we need to be looking to bolster this part of the roster. We also have another player at FB that is just useless at this point.
First Proposal
FB Nick Bawden
WR Randall Cobb
TE CJ Uzomah
2025 5th round
to
Carolina Panthers for
WR Terrence Marshall Jr.
TE Tommy Tremble
Second Proposal
WR Mecole Hardman
OT Duane Brown
OC Connor McGovern
to
Chicago Bears
WR Velus Jones Jr.
4th Round 2024
Final Proposal
OG Laken Tomlinson
to
Cincinnati Bengals
4th Round 2025
Jets would be better off with an infusion of talent that can move the pocket, using our current roster. Adding Tremble to Conklin and Ruckert would give us that young receiver tight end. We need a younger option and a second return specialist which Velus would give us with Gipson. Bringing in Marshall Jr. gives us our #2 to pair with Garrett Wilson, opening the door to use Lazard as that big slot receiver.
Left tackle can be one of three players Max Mitchell, AVT or Rookie Carter Warren (when he is off short IR)
Left guard if Mitchell is left tackle AVT is the best option to strengthen this side but also Warren switching positions from Tackle to Guard is also an option.
It is time to give the keys to Tippman to be the center now not later.
Right guard is tricky, as much as Becton is a good right tackle option his run blocking game is needed on the interior.
Right tackle comes down to who is left over from left tackle.
we have a stable group of running backs and right now the way Dalvin Cook has been carrying the ball he could double down as full back and carry out of that position with Breece on the field. Best way to create matchup problems. Need to have more than one option at receiver, after GW there is no one and ZW shows he has no trust with other targets. Bringing Marshall Jr. who has slipped down the depth chart in Carolina he could come in and immediately give us a one, two punch with Lazard as a solid three. Brownlee is a project. Gipson and Velus would give us two shiftee slot options that double down at returners.
With Billy Turner at tackle he becomes the swing tackle
We have Wes Scheitzer move him to backup center.
We then can promote IOL Adam Pankey to the active roster to sew up the depth.
End of the day it is about building around ZW and not having him be the cause of our demise which he has proven to be thus far in his young career.
Removing that FB but using our overpaid RB as an option with Ruckert also doubling down at FB gives us some matchup potential.
Only going with eight offensive linemen seems light but a player like Ruckert he can fill in as the ninth lineman.
Thoughts?
