I'd still be surprised if Revis doesn't work something out with NE. Belicheck has got to be thinking that Brady can't have many more years left so he mine as well keep the team together for as long as possible, including keeping the best CB in football. Not sure he cares about the long term cap health of the team cause I think he retires along with Brady in a year or two. That would be the smart thing to do to protect his legacy.

The Pats have always found a way to outmaneuver the Jets. I hope this time, we actually win this one. It weakens the Pats, makes the Jets a much better defense, and brings back one of the best Jet players in history, hopefully for the remainder of his career. I am not optimistic just because of the history between the Pats and the Jets. But, I would love to see us get Revis back and see the fan reaction in New England.

At this point Revis is only doing 1 year deals..Hell when he had a multi year contract he only made 2 years without holding out..

Good thing none of the other free agents want our money, because revis will want all of it. Back the cap space up and dump $20 mill/season on his door step and he'll sign here.

What do you guys honestly think he lands at? $12, 14, 16 mill/year? Maxwell got $10 mill, so dont say anything silly please, and Sherman gets 4 years 56 mill and Patrick Peterson got 5 years $70 mill...so does 5 years for $75 mill get Revis?

Not from me it doesn't, and I hope not from the Jets either

Mentioned last wk Jets had serious internal talks re: Revis. Offer likely 2get it done: 48M in 1st 3yrs (40 full gtd) http://nydn.us/1NdA1Og

Not that I think Manish knows any of this information but this one I kind of agree with regards to what it will take to get Revis (14-16 Mil /year). Maybe 3 Years 45M with 30M guaranteed. I think I would take Culliver and Iupati at 8/9M each instead. However if we did sign Revis, even at that price, I would be happy to see him in green and white again.

Now that he is hitting 30, he'll want longer deals, to protect himself for when he begins to drop off.

Well, actually, besides the Pats "show me" deal, he always did longer deals. He just never honored them

Darrelle Revis' 6 most likely landing spots after New England Patriots decline option

1 / 10
(Jeff Wheeler | Minneapolis Star Tribune/MCT)
Dom Cosentino | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

We're at that point of the offseason where the spotlight inevitably turns to former Jets and current Patriots (at least until Tuesday at 4 p.m.) star Darrelle Revis.

It's become an annual ritual. Revis becomes available (New England reportedly declined his 2015 option) and teams start checking their accounting ledgers to see how much they can afford for his mercenary services. It ends with Revis eventually stacking wads of cash in his personal vault and aligning himself for the next payday ... the following year.

It's an act only affordable to a select few players. But Revis is one of the few who have the kind of leverage necessary to play under what amounts to a gigantic guaranteed one-year contract and get another one the following year, even if he gets injured.

It's good work if you can get it, especially when teams start lining up for your services. Again, for the third straight year, there will be suitors. Plenty of them. Some known and others lurking under the table or in the distance.

The Patriots and Jets are the obvious ones. There's a comfort level there.

But there will be others. Here are some potential landing spots in "Revis Chase '15".

New England Patriots ‐ Revis won a Super Bowl and collected $12 million in his only season in New England. The Patriots couldn't financially bring him back for a season and take a $25 million cap hit. So Revis will test the market, drive up his price and, presumably, provide the Patriots a chance to match. They're considered the favorites in this chase.

New York Jets ‐ Ah, the Jets. Revis knows something about them. They drafted him and watched him grow into the star that he has become. At this point, especially with head coach Rex Ryan gone, that likely means little. What does factor into this equation more is the Jets' gaping hole at cornerback and the massive amounts of cash they have to spend. That should grab Revis' attention.

Buffalo Bills ‐ Rex and Revis reunited? That would make for a great show and defense with the players that the Bills already have in place. What makes this tough is that Buffalo might have trouble making it work financially.

Philadelphia Eagles ‐ Since Chip Kelly arrived, they've gotten rid of offensive stars LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. They're looking to invest some of that loose change on defense. What better way than at a position of need? If the Eagles put Revis alongside cornerbacks Byron Maxwell and Brandon Boykin it would be the league's best trio. And Philadelphia can easily pay Revis whatever the huge sum he's looking for, if they so desire.

Atlanta Falcons ‐ Look out for Atlanta. It could be a sneaky player here with money to spend and an owner willing to take risks. And what better way for new coach Dan Quinn to rebuild that porous defense than with a star on the backend like Revis.

Oakland Raiders ‐ They're the Raiders. They're liable to do something crazy, especially with money they're having trouble spending. Would anyone really be surprised if they offered Revis $20 million per year?

Someone posted a tweet on thr FA thread that the Jets have put all other free agent activity on hold to pursue Revis. Lord this bad news if true. Hope we go Culliver and drop out of the bidding war early.

Actually I agree. All this Revis drama is BS. If he is there tomorrow, and the Jets still have money, then worry about it.

He is not going to be the difference between a Super bowl or not

Agree. I was really hoping that Pats would pick up his option, too many eggs in one basket.

I'll be ok with losing Revis if we get someone like Culliver, and then maybe Cromartie. Revis is gonna get a ridiculous contract, and I'm not sure paying him all that guaranteed money is smart. Brandon Marshall is 31, but we're not tied long term to him. Revis will get 4 years and be WAY overpaid for the final years. He'll fizzle out like Champ Bailey in the end.

With that said, we need CB's so badly, I won't be disappointed if we land Revis. He's still a very good player.

He has 2 years of Elite status left if not 3... His 4th year he will still be better than 60% of the starting CB's in the league...IMHO

I agree completely. If in his 4th year , he was asked to play FS , I think Revis could be a top 2 or 3 FS in the NFL. Just saying.

Look, I am tired of the NYJ being the biggest bunch of bumbling f*cking fools. It's about time they did SOMETHING right. Signing Revis is not only doing something right, it is serving a twofold purpose, making the Jets tremendously better and massively weakening the Patsies. It is sticking it to the Patsies and I am all for it.

Revis, of course, is 1A. But I would say a VERY important pickup for the Jets is grabbing a FB. The last time the Jets had a great FB, they had a weapon for a running game.

Then comes a Guard. Improving the OL is hugely important for building a successful offense. And lastly, a veteran QB.

If the Jets can fulfill that list they will be well on their way to improving this season.

I just can't root for this guy anymore. Too much bad blood for me so I will just hope we don't sign him and get Cro and Culliver. If he comes here he will hold us hostage again next year!!

I almost gave you a Like this post click. Then I went back and reread it. A FB? I'm really hoping the Jets lose the FB position. I have to go back and look and see if Gaily uses a FB in his sets.

Other wise good post. LOL

Isn't it so nice getting to know the posters from the other board? They get to know our...interesting...scout members, and we find out who theirs are.

It's like two dysfunctional families uniting at a wedding.
