Cook is known for his short yardage runs, a physical runner who softens up the defense to allow explosive runs from Breece, MC and eventually Izzy. Also opens the door for Gipson end arounds for big plays.
Makes sense I guess. Just hasn’t impressed at all imo.
Yeah I'm not really impressed with Cook. I just think the 2 back thing is not working for both Backs. Both of these guys are #1 backs. I don't believe either guy is establishing a rhythm and when they start to get one going the other guy is put in. Breece "needs to eat" on the field. So does Cook. I don't think it's going to work going forward. Hopefully they figure it out.
problem is we were so tight on offense no spreading the boundaries with outside runs or screens so they stacked the box against us where Cook feasts. as soon as defenses have to respect Zach throwing it and we throw in Gipson and MC outside sideline to sideline quickness then the middle becomes a boxing match throw in Cook pound a few times then Breece and both have home run speed after they break tackles just need better lead blocking...
Yeah I get that but 2 Roosters in the Hen house never works, and We have that situation here I believe. Breece and Carter. Clear 1 and 2. Same if you substitute Cook for Breece. I just don't think 1 and 1a ever turns out well.

Cook knows his role. This is Breece's backfield.
But there is plenty for everyone to eat.
Breece is ready to break a long one if his stupid WR/TE's would do their job downfield.
Cook is also working back from injury so I’m not sure we have seen 100% Cook yet. That being said with the way he was running the past two years, short yardage was really bad but he was break big runs from time to time. None of our guys can get into rhythm with 5-6 carries a game.

Breece is a great back. I hope his talent isn't wasted on a last place team. I was trying to think of what running back he reminds me of then, I watching a special on ESPN on the Bears . He is quite similar to Gale Sayers. They seem to find a running lane in tight spaces and explode thru keeping their balance.
