You are kidding right>The mistake was drafting that kid when the Tackle from Oregon was far and away the BPA . This Jet team would have been better off keeping Sam Darnold and taking the OT .
Those who don’t learn from History are doomed to repeat it. The Jets should keep Zach Wilson and sign a buffer between him and Rodgers . He’s 23, improving and is under contract. What you’re going to get for him is not in any way close to the possible benefit you might get by keeping him and continuing his development.
Darnold got a 2nd round, a 4th and 6th. Sign JD to a 10 year extension if he gets a 2nd for Zach and so he can compete his 15 year rebuild of the OL.The mistake was drafting that kid when the Tackle from Oregon was far and away the BPA . Woody's mentor in the ownership/management department:Ive heard this so many times……. Just be done with it. He sucks….we failed him….. Sanchez, Darnold, Zippy….multiple coaching staffs and GM’s…. Common thread…. WOODY JOHNSON. I work for a guy with the same type personality. Clueless, no plan, has no idea how to get where he wants to be. Typical rich fucker who hires people to solve HIS problems, promises to stay out of the way, but just cant keeps his hands outta the pie when it comes right down to it.
I agree, but this market and ownership doesn't have the patience or intelligence for that. If we draft someone in the first couple of rounds and he sits, then he will be labeled a bust. Conversely, if we play the guy before he is ready and he flops he's a bust. As a result we are stuck in this never ending vortex of inevitable failure. The hardest thing in the world is too find a Franchise QB. Everybody talks that shit. Hell the Jets should have found one by accident by now. Law of averages and all that. I don't think Zach is ever going to be good, at least here. Start all over? They have AR. Draft a QB and let Him SIT and Learn. Try it that way. At least once. Patience used to be a virtue. Let's practice that for once.
I would do this, but I would only do this for what will be Rodgers' last year. I'd rather have three years of control of a QB on a rookie contract with him starting, four if he's a first-round pick. A QB should sit and learn, but you don't want to waste too much of his rookie deal. The hardest thing in the world is too find a Franchise QB. Everybody talks that shit. This is what troubles me. In general, I think the fan base is way over the top in its Woody hate, but if he intervened in the Zach pick, that goes beyond. Owners don't know football. They shouldn't be overruling the football people they hire to do their jobs.Ive heard this so many times……. Just be done with it. He sucks….we failed him….. I would make sure that the entire offense was set before bringing in a rookie QB. Once the line is settled and there is more production at WR behind GW, then do it. In other words, if the Jets have a choice between a QB and an OT in the first round this year, take the OT - unless Rodgers has already told the team it's his last year. If he says to the Jets that he's done after 2024-25, then maybe be more aggressive in FA at OL and draft a QB in the first.the pool is open....so don't wait dive right in
100% agree. The time has come to change that cycle. I think there's too much pressure on any Kid to start right away. Sitting them is the only way it's going to work. This is the time. AR will probably not like it as well. You have too do what you have to do. This never ending cycle of tomfoolery has too end.I agree, but this market and ownership doesn't have the patience or intelligence for that. No I’m not. Show me a better 3rd option around the league or from the draft . If Wilson was willing to restructure his contract cutting his 24 cap hit and extending for 2 more years then I would use the savings to sign a Brissett or Tannehill or even a Winston as the primary backup QB while allowing Wilson to continue his development. The kid is 24 years old and in 2 years he will be 26 .You are kidding right>
Why can’t we still do that with a 24 year old Wilson ?The hardest thing in the world is too find a Franchise QB. Everybody talks that shit. Hell the Jets should have found one by accident by now. He will cost too much. His shelf life salary wise has expired. Why can’t we still do that with a 24 year old Wilson ?
