I have an interesting question for all of us

What makes for a successful season for us.....What is winning to you all.? If we made the playoffs is that it?

Dallas, steelers, GB, Chiefs etc one & done is a terrible season. If we become a wildcard & lose 35 to 10 to???? is that a good year......

Let me answer first. With Rodgers I would say we need to win two games in the playoffs to be a good year...or more.

The Sanchez/Ryan years were good years iMO but we never built off of that.....somebody tossed out the Lego pieces after 2010

At this point (55 years from our last NFL championship), only a SB win will do it for me. We lived through the two consecutive AFCCGs. They were fun but hollow. Since then, it has been utter torment.
Ok but next year we do well & get close......You will not be happy going into the next year? All in one is ok with me but for me if we keep building I would be happy but lets face it over the next five years we really only have a chance next year or maybe the year after

The only reason I will not be happy is that if this team follows our "trend", the following year after some slight improvement they will go into cluster fuck mode.

Prof I agree & I feel we have a one-year window, maybe two but the windows are small basement windows. But At the time I will still be happy if we get to the playoffs for at least a few rounds

Not joking. When I go to work, I try to be the best every single time. Same with anything I do. If I’m not then I failed. Nobody knows or cares how good I am at my job. If I were on tv for the world to see, I better damn well be the best or why bother. I guarantee these young kids GW, Breece, Sauce feel the same way. They’re used to winning in college. Losing is for losers

imagine if you told your wife you needed to play football yet another year. You then went on to a losing record that season, but still made the playoffs and then got your ass kicked by the Cowboys.

loser. Imagine then that your wife divorces you because of it. You deserve it.
If you don’t win, don’t bother, who cares

If Rodgers comes in and wins us the Super Bowl next year then retires and we go back to same old Jets the next year, that’s no good for me

you always say it Butter, winners win , losers lose. Winning once does not make a winner. We already won once. Super Bowl III. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED.?

Fuck losing.

EVER!

right now I expect them to suck, they do and I accept it because that’s all I’ve known from this team. I’m not even pissed anymore. It’s just normal

if they ever actually became good and then sucked again, I would be pissed. Really pissed

Every season, Jets/Cards/Lions fans are like all those guys at the diner after a night in the LI clubs in the early 70's. The stud guys (and your bass player) left with hot girls before loadout and you end up at the 24 hr diner ordering a toasted blueberry muffin and coffee while the guy next to you quietly hums "have you heard about the lonesome loser"

The Jets are going to be lonesome losers for quite some time to come. Rodgers cannot outlive the OL rebuild and then it's the next 10 year rebuild with the Darnold/Wilson dujour.

But this year is different. Very different. How could you not see those old fella Lions fans at the end of the game this past weekand and not think, "I feel you brother, I feel you". So you didn't get the girl, but your buddy did and he's as undesirable as you.

reminds you that the next line was "he's a loser, but he keeps on trying"

Go Lions, well at least as far as you can until she sees you in daylight

Great post. Only for me, it would be a western omelette with rye toast and coffee at the Victory Diner. And back then, I was a bass player. lol

Look when my Blues won the cup in 2019 after all those years of losing it was worth it. When the Jets won the SB in 1968/69 it was worth it. Yes the losing started up again. But It is like that one night stand with a super model. The grin never comes off after you have.

I watch football but it no longer dominates my existence like it did when I was younger. I have young men for sons and watching them lose their minds weekly during the football season has given me a different perspective.
I believe that if and it’s a big if, but if Rodgers stays healthy for the year the Jets will be a playoff team next year and probably the following year also . What I see down the road is the same situation the Saints are experiencing post Brees and the Patriots post Brady .

The Jets might have talent on the roster but what I don’t see presently is a succession plan post Rodgers . Cap-wise and Quarterback-wise. Everyone says the Rams are back with Mcvay, but what happens when Stafford retires. What’s your plan, because history has proven that without a quarterback great becomes someone else’s issue.
