I believe before a player can be added to the practice squad that player must be released, pass through wavers and then is eligible. Once released, the cap hit from his rookie contract becomes the responsibility of the Jets and a new contract would have to be created for the practice squad.

If I am a GM, no player is worth 2 first round picks and additional picks. To that end, if I am offered that compensation for a player, I take the picks .

I don't think any smart fans are doing that. They screwed up their draft slot with two meaningless wins and the only way to rectify that IMO is to trade back and get an extra pick.
Harrison Jr would cost a 2025 4th round pick to move up a couple of spots for. Not multiple picks this year and next
