It's only because of Rodgers, but it could be so everyone can watch them fail. It's a win/win for the NFL. The NFL is a business and Rodgers brings eyes to the Jets. Good and bad.

That’s exactly it! Even if the Jets didn’t have Rodgers. The Jets would still have a few prime time games because they want to see them fail. Plus I’m guessing the NY media market thing. If the Jets succeed then it’s a win/win for the NFL regardless.

Apparently the NFL have said that they felt that the Jets 'owed them one' after Johnny Foursnaps wrecked their prime time schedule last year and therefore they loaded up the schedule again. So basically they admit that the Jets haven't been given the same deal as everybody else. They also pointed out that if the Jets do get through the 11 games then the opponents for the last six would make those games attractive for flexing.
