I didn’t serve . My Dad spent 18 months sleeping on the ground in a PUP tent in the Korean War . My son interviewed him , was able to contact some guys he served with some 70+ years ago and they got to talk and remembered each other . What an amazing bond . He even put together a book with pictures and stories for my Dad . We’re all so glad he did this on his own for my Dad before he passed away .
My Dads 1st cousin was one of the first to go overseas. He was captured by the “ Tiger “ and died in a death march . My son researched this also . The Korean army said he was killed in an escape attempt . OK
A lot of 16 year olds got a form and their parents signed for them after erasing one line making them eligible to enlist. And they served!
