Thoughts and observations on game 2

Jets were outplayed and outclassed period but I do believe there is still ALOT of hope and promise for this team:

1. The defense got all out punked tonight and this appears to be there biggest problem so far. This is VERY SURPRISING but like TCT said, they most likely played harder the past two years because they know they had to. They played tonight like they feel they don’t have to now because of A-Rod, but that’s wrong. If they don’t fix that and like immediately, the Jets have no chance this year!

2. The oline was horrible with the run but they were pretty decent with the pass protection. A-Rod was only sacked once and he wasn’t necessarily pressured the entire game. They have ALOT to work on but there is hope and promise there.

3. Where was M. Williams, why wasn’t he on the field? What the BLEEP are these idiots doing not playing this guy but playing Lazard like he’s Jerry Rice???

4. Breece Hall was struggling all damn game, so where was the use of the other RBs? We have 4 really good and young RBs on this team, use them please!

5. Overall this team was outright out coached and not ready for this game. This is what scares me the most. The defense got bullied all damn game and they didn’t use the arsenal of weapons they have to make this a game.

Bonus point: A-Rod lasted a full freaking game people. With him on this team, I will believe wholeheartedly that the Jets still have a chance to win at least 10 games, UNTIL THEY DON’T!

A lot of overreaction about (see N Y Post for example), I'm trying really hard not to jump on the bandwagon. I think we saw one of the two Superbowl teams tonight, and I don't mean the Jets. Kyle Shanahan is a much better coach than Hackett or Saleh, even without McCaffery. The defense is weak over the middle as usual, but the offense could have helped out by putting together some drives; just riding two guys and announcing before kickoff that you are going to do it isn't smart. For many players this was their first game of the season.

On the positive side, no major injuries and Lazard may have rediscovered his mojo. Nice drive for Tyrod even in garbage time and a cameo for Braelon showed what might have been if he had spelled Hall.

Little pass rush, even Quinnen was quiet. Reddick's hand has improved.

The Jets had NO PASS RUSH AT ALL but then again, the 49ers really didn’t need to pass at all the way they ran the damn ball. That was a WELL PUT TOGETHER ASS THRASHING and every Jet should be embarrassed. They got punked last night in a major way and hopefully this brings the perspective they need to pull their shit together!

I looked under the bed. I looked in the back of the closet. I pulled all the cushions off the couch. I couldn’t find a bright spot in last nights game

Flat, uninspired football. That’s what we saw.

where were the Jets that wanted to make a statement that they are in the Super Bowl race this season?

they weren't playing for the jets last night that’s for sure . Maybe on the eagles or broncos? I don’t know

you can blame coaching for the players coming out flat, but should a player really need someone to inspire them to play hard in front of a national tv audience on Monday night football?

after one week, it looks like the whole thing will be blown up again and restarted at seasons end yet again. Let’s hope that changes quick. They have to beat every single bad team for starters

right now the only positive for me from last night is that I’m positive the jets are still the jets

So no overreaction, IMO we were clearly out coached top to bottom. We were dominated on the LOS on both sides of the ball.

I'm not surprised that we lost, this game was more about getting through it healthy and starting to build on what this team can be. Rodgers literally completed passes to 3 receivers LOL (Wilson, Lazard and Hall), that obviously has to change. And Hall was ran the entire game until they raised the white flag (again not a smart coaching decision).

The 49ers Achilles heel on defense is their inability to stop the run up the middle. Well we tested that all of never :p. Breece is not a run up the gut smash the defense type of RB (never has been); he is an off tackle find a seam and out run you type of back. Well maybe we should have had Allen out there for 10 snaps or so smashing the middle of the field and punishing defenders. The fact that we were dominated so badly at the LOS left us very few opportunities on the offense side (SF controlled time of possession and never let us see the ball).

Honestly the offense gave us glimpses and that was my expectation for this game. They have a lot to build on, and they will get better and find a groove. My concern is more on the defense, they have not been good at stopping the run the past three seasons, and they may have gotten even worse there. The blueprint is out on how to stop this defense, so Saleh and Ulbrich have their work cut out for them to fix this.

Over and done, now lets get to fixing the holes and attack the Titans.

Losing is one thing. They got destroyed. Embarrassed. 49ers are better at every position. Better coaches. They needed to put up a fight and they didn't. They had zero answers. Losing the way they did was the problem not the losing.

Problem with this defense is they don't have the players that can stop the run. They MIGHT have the players to play man yet they don't. They need 7-8 in the box and play man on the outside. Rah Rah is too stupid to do that. I wish this was a wake up call, but I think it was an exposure. Sure the Jets will beat up on the weak team. MAYBE. Good teams have the blueprint. Saleh is the problem. I would start testing the waters with Vrabel.

Oh and to note, Reddick WOULD NOT have helped one bit. He's an undersized Edge who relies on speed. The were running the ball down our throats and that is simply not his strength. Add to that, Clemons is completely clueless out there! He bull rushes 99% of the time, cannot set the edge, and every running back just one cuts to the outside of his bull rush and have wide open daylight (Dude is out of position on almost every single running play).

If you watched last night, they ran at him all night long and dude was almost never in position to make a play.

But they didn’t just lose. They were totally outplayed and demoralized.

Aaron can’t do anything if our own defense doesn’t get him back on the field.

the defense couldn’t stop a run. Any run. Not a single run. If Sanfran ran every single play, the score is even worse. It seemed like they averaged 6,7,8 yards a carry

the defense was man handled by back up running backs and an offensive line that supposedly only had one good player and that player just showed up yesterday

they are the same old jets until they’re not

had they won? Of course wed be excited.

had they lost, but we’re in the game until the end? We’d have been sad but encouraged

they did neither. The defense forgot to show up.

So, yes, the sky is falling and this can only be righted by them beating the band teams and then beating a good team

Rome wasn't built in a day. Last night was their first actual game together. They have a lot of work to do, and quite honestly the moves Douglas made on the D-line are to get after the QB but definitely hurt us in regards to stopping the run.

The game plan felt like a preseason game plan. Plain Jane plans on both sides of the ball. We didn't scheme for anything, so the coaching staff has a lot of work to do.

We survived with no major injuries (Yay!!). Now lets see what this team can actually be.

I watched the game on ESPN last night, and really enjoyed how much the O-Line was at protecting A-Rod, And The First Scoring Drive We Had, He had a completely un-pressured pocket. I am enjoying how the O-Line is, as it is clearly strengthened by the off-season additions. It was pretty fun to watch. The Defense was a bit on the lesser than expected performance last night. It clearly was a struggle not having a big fire in our Defense, as 8 scoring drives was a bit embarrassing, but Saleh can probably have a talk before Sunday, and things might clear in Everyone's mind, not a bad, but not perfect start to the season, but a lot to break down and discuss at practice for them this week.

Rome could have started to be built in the preseason. Bubble wrap doesn't work. Rodgers and the offense needed the preseason work. Joint practices are a glorified flag football game. Another bad coaching move. Rah Rah is the problem. It's his defense. It's his scheme. It's his game plan. They might squeak in the playoffs, but they will be out coached. Give me a signature win that Rah Rah has had. Eagles and Bills gave them the game last year. Then they beat a washed up QB in Denver. Beat a backup and barely beat the Giants. Beat Stroud, but he was knocked out early. Beat the Redskins and then the laughable Pats. Those 7 wins were fools gold. What we saw last night was a decent defense with some glaring holes and is highly over rated. I'm still saying this is a 7 win team unless they play 8 bad teams.

Honestly the offense wasn't the problem last night. They needed more possessions, but they did move the ball and I can tell you we would have killed to get 19/20 points last season. The defense was the problem last night, and I'm not sure playing them all preseason would have helped a bit, as this is essentially the same unit returning from the last 2 seasons (and the middle of the field has always been a problem, and we don't have a DT than can help on this roster).

Believe me I know the defense was the problem, but the offense had many punts. Thats because they haven't played together. Could have been rectified with some preseason work. Rodgers arm looked good. His legs looked old.

I think even with preseason work, this was "to be expected". He's a year off and has never played with these guys, it's going to take some time for them to get on the same page. The good news is, the O line looked really good in pass protection. They kept him upright against an elite defense.
