Agree. He would be the first to tell you he had a down year last season, he should have had more interceptions, he missed tackles he should have made. He owns up to these inadequacies and is working to improve here. However, in my opinion, his down year was still better than 95 % or more of the corners that played last season. He has earned the money and the Jets saved a shit load of money by doing it now instead of 2 years from now.

I would argue the opposite. With the rise in WR play and usage, Corners values will continue to rise.
True. But the "rise" in WR play is a direct result of rule changes favoring Wideouts.
DB' s are playing with their hands tied and the result is inflated stats for WR's.
The changes this year will only lead to more scores, more penalties etc. Hell when they throw the ball downfield at all anymore it's almost automatically a PI.

It's all about the money. No one wants to pay to see a 6-3 "defensive battle". Now when you see a score like that, it has nothing to do with Defense. It usually means both teams Suck.

Teams seem content to stock up on young RBs in the draft and get as much production as they can from them and let them walk after their rookie deals are up.
