Jets WR issue(s)

I believe the Jets have done a masterful job with the roster, coaching changes and overall image and morale changes for the team. The one area they are clearly lacking is WR. I’m hoping and praying they’re not lacking at the QB position also but this thread is not about the QB. Let’s all hope and pray that Justin shows he’s a strength to this team and not a weakness.

Getting back on track, their WR crop is clearly lacking. Besides Garrett, who we all know is capable of 100 catches, over 1,000 yards and 10 TDs. Who else do they truly have? I’m guessing we truly have to hope that one of the younger WR step up. Hopefully we get another Robbie Anderson type pre-season luck because their 2nd and 3rd depth chart WRs are garbage.

Maybe that was a little harsh but counting on Reynolds and Lazard is not good business. They might be able to get about 30-40 catches a piece from them for about 400 yards max. That’s truly all they are capable of, at this point. They are both injury concerns, they have the height and size of a big catch radius and playing bully ball but they can’t really do that. Plus they have no speed to them.

So what are the truly expecting at this position? Other than Garrett, who else is capable of getting anything done? This is why I didn’t want them to let Davante leave the team. Being that it did happen, they truly missed the boat on getting a true #2 WR in here. I guess if my thinking is correct and no younger WR steps up, this will be a heavy TE and RB catching type year.

Besides Justin throwing the ball to GW about 175-200 times!

I will bet they use Breece a bunch in the passing game. Makes it easier for a QB that doesn't throw the ball well. Not going to be exciting or conventional, but if they are really good at it then they could be competitive.

I agree, I see Justin throwing the ball about 450 times this year at most. More like 375-400. This will be a run heavy scheme obviously. GW and Breece will get the most attempts throw to both of them. I’d say about 150 times thrown to GW and about 75 attempts to Breece. Divy up the rest to whomever you want. Mainly the TEs would be my bet.

Unless a younger WR steps up big time or they trade or pick some one up late in the game, Breece and the TEs will see ALOT of balls thrown their way. I’ll put money on it that Reynolds and Lazard don’t get the ball thrown at them no more than 50 times, a piece. Whether because of them being unavailable due to injuries or their capabilities. Or both!

Yeah he had a really great almost TD. Never saw the field again. I'm guessing a certain QB made that call.

From the reports or videos on YouTube that I’ve been watching, Corley is struggling so far and in jeopardy of possibly being cut.

Maybe Quentin Skinner can be our come from nowhere stand out guy. Only 23 years old, 6’5” and about 200 pounds. He had a damn good catch in the pre season game. Corley wasn’t really featured at all! Neither was Gipson.

I don't believe that the WR room is as bad as most of you. Josh Reynolds, Tyler Johnson and Arian Smith have all looked really good in camp. Mason and Smart have proven to be very good receiving TEs ,and Lazzard is still on the roster. Were pretty solid behind Wilson

I think you’re underestimating Justin big time TCT. I’m not saying that he’ll throw the ball 550 times this season but I don’t think he’ll throw it 300 either. I’d say somewhere in the middle. About 400 times. That’s in average of about 23 times throwing a game.

I'm basing my opinion of him as a passer based on what I've seen him not do well in the NFL. I hope he proves me wrong. I like the kid and I'm giving him a chance so I'm rooting for him.

He is going to have to start showing more in camp. He is probably listed at 6th or 7th right now.

We have some really bad WR's so if he can't beat out our garbage he won't have much of a career.
