The issue I have with this is most of us saw this and called it out when they signed him. It's not like he is a rookie! There is 3 years of film on him and we all knew he can't read the field and his critical processing is nonexistent. So what exactly did Glenn see that would have him make this ludicrous decision??

Fields is only competing with Caleb Williams for slowest time to throw, since entering the league. Luckily for him Williams came in and is just as bad.

Can’t argue or debate this at all. Glenn coached against him as the D coordinator in Detroit. So I’m guessing or it’s obvious that he saw something that he shouldn’t have. Seems like the OC and QB coach saw the same. I guess they thought they could get him there. They tried it and it failed.

You know what else would have failed, keeping Aaron Rodgers here to play with this roster. That would have failed to the highest degree. Not just the losing but the drama of the old opinionated diva QB tearing this team apart. Actually that wouldn’t have happen because Glenn would have been all over Rodgers.

Here is what might be the biggest problem is Glenn struggled against Fields and saw something in him.

NO, I’m not kidding. I mean that wholeheartedly! He’s not a true QB. He’s not Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Dak Prescott, or Bo Nix for example. Notice the difference, these are true quarterbacks that can run and throw the ball. Being that he’s not that, he doesn’t and can’t see the field and react like they do and he never will.

Aaron Glenn obviously thought or was hoping Justin Fields was this or could at least develop into being this. He took a chance and it didn’t happen. I can’t and don’t blame him for that. We move on! Obviously we won’t agree on this, so let’s do exactly that. Agree to disagree and move on!

Fields was what was available. I don't believe that they thought he was going to be more than a one year rental with hopefully some upside.
It was always about resetting the salary cap and looking ahead to next seasons draft. Worst case, which is what we got, is a top pick, likely the first pick. If it worked out, that would have been a bonus.
