Win out or tank???

So our Jets are currently in the 5 or 6 slot for a draft pick. We all know they will find away to win 1-2 more games at least to further mess their draft position up. So my question is should they just try to win every game and actually do that, IF THEY CAN? Or should they lose out to hopefully better their draft position?

I say at this point, just win out and see who really wants to be a Jet. Plus this is testing the character of not just the players but the coaching staff also!

Actually 7th spot. There are way too many teams worse than the Jets so I don't think they improve their position much. If Mendoza, beats the hell out of OSU then tank. If not, just play and see what happens. Tanking is tough in the NFL.

I agree with you 100 percent but here’s what the Jets are facing, IMO.

Their remaining games are:
- vs. Dolphins (they could and should win this one but the Dolphins ain’t playing to bad and fighting for their coach and themselves. So …)

- @ Jaquars (they should lose this game but the Jaqs and Lawrence can’t be trusted. So …)

- @ Saints (I would think it’s safe to say that the Jets win this one)

- vs. Patriots (they’ll get slaughtered this game. Even if the Patriots have the #1 seed locked in, they will still want to prove a point against the Jets. I believe)

- @ Bills (Bills might be fighting for a wild card spot here. So the Jets don’t have a chance)

Saints are the only game they should win.
Knowing the Jets, they will win one that they shouldn't. I'm thinking it's the Jags. I could see them beating that team. The Dolphins are another game that they could win. That depends on the Dolphins and if they show up. Lot going on with that Team.

They should select the gameday 53 with an eye to the future. So guys like Brady Cook and Jelani Woods should be in and guys like Lazard and Fields should be inactive. Then once the game starts the coaching staff call plays to win, and let the chips fall where they may. You can't expect the staff or players to try to lose, and if they did the league might have something to say.

Well starting Brady Cook and Jelani Woods is basically running up the white flag, don't you think?
What some would call "Seeing what we have in these kids" is tanking to the young vets they are trying to bring along.
The Jets will remain "competitive" or their version of it until the Season ends.
They will try to win, but that's what they've been doing all along, so you get them tanking while saying their trying to win. Oldest trick in the book.

Brady Cook will be active for this game is the word. Fields is out with a knee injury. Maybe we’ll get a chance to see Cook before the year ends. Woods also!

And there ya go.
Tankers are happy
Yet they're "trying to win".

There's 'trying to win' and there's giving up the farm to win. If we were in the Superbowl next week (ho ho) they would probably do everything they could to get Garrett Wilson on the field. Would you like to see Garrett given a North Dallas 40 style shot so he can play in these meaningless games? I say make the business decision and shut him down so his knee is solid for hopefully many years to come in more fruitful times.

If they can win out, then do it. Otherwise just continue to suck

if they win out, I’m actually excited, but the chances of winning out? Ask @Bigmoe to get the odds on that. I say less than zero

Actually I was talking more along the Lines of Tyrod starting and not Fields.
Tyrod gives them a better chance to win right?
Further they have Cook backing up Ty.
This appeases the Tankers. Tanking while not appearing to tank, it's an art form.

I can appreciate that wholeheartedly and I do agree!

Well you got your wish. What did you think about Cook?

I saw a guy undergoing a rapid learning process. He had trouble with the exchange, unsurprising as he had no first team practice reps, and he threw two red zone ints, one a good play by the defender. He should have had a touchdown but Metchie dropped the pass. I'd say the jury is still out, and I would like to see him start next week with first team reps behind him, starting Fields or Tyrod instead just doesn't achieve anything.
