If we can grab him with no 1st round pick trade up then I'm all for it, but this team currently constructed will ruin him. We need to get another WR, RB and possibly guard. I would like to keep our picks and draft WR Jordyn Tyson and then RB Jeremyah Love. Breece will probably be gone next year and Metchie sucks unless he is WR4. AD Mitchell can't be trusted a WR2. Grab a guard in 2nd round and then all defense. Then grab a QB next year. I think we will have a top 5 pick and unless Philip Rivers plays like he did in 2010 we will be looking at a top 15 pick from the Colts.

We will 100% regret trading 1st round picks for Mendoza. Or any QB for that matter.
They've just extended Myers for middle range center money, which sort of suggests they are planning to leave Tippmann at guard and are not prioritising reinforcing the position. Since Tippmann isn't a pancake run blocker this suggests they are dispensing with the run-heavy offense and reverting to a more balanced attack.

I'm not a big fan of Myers. In my opinion he's the weak link in that "O" line. I have a hunch, especially considering his salary, that he will wind up being a depth signing contrary to what he thinks. I think you have under estimated Joe Tippmann. Here's what PFF says. Joe Tippmann significantly outperforms Josh Myers in PFF run-blocking grades, with Tippmann often ranking top-10 among centers for his solid 2024 (77.3 grade) and even better flashes in 2025 (80+ grades), while Myers consistently ranks near the bottom (around 50-56 grades), proving Tippmann's superior effectiveness in creating running lanes compared to Myers' struggles. Actually I don't think the Jets know what the offense be capable of until after free agency and the draft. A lot will depend on who the starting QB is. I believe that a top notch guard is in the plans to free up Joe so he can move back to center. I think run heavy is still the goal. Just my thoughts, of course.

How many really good vet QB's are there usually in FA?

I don't think Tippmann is going back to center.
He has performed significantly better at guard and he just couldn't snap the ball .
The FA class is very limited at guard. AVT is by far the best available and he's never available Lol...

Tippmann has, I admit had his troubles snapping the ball, but I think it would be easier for him to fix that than it would be for Myers to measure up to all of Tippman's other qualities. What you say about AVT is perplexing but true. When he's in the game he more than earns his keep,..............but, he has certainly had his fair share of unavailability due to injury. I think that fact might cause him to lose his roster spot. If only there was a magic injury repelling pill.

Unfortunately, being drafted by the jets brings incurable injury risk...
I really think they are going to look outside of the roster to upgrade the center position. I believe Tippmann is going to stay at right guard .
Just a hunch....

You might be right. Tippmann might stay at guard IF they find a new center. I really am surprised they extended Myers. He is one of the lowest rated centers in the NFL and his stats have actually gotten worse each season. I can only see him as depth insurance because he doesn't miss time for injury. I am convinced that they will add another center in free agency or the draft or maybe even both. If they don't manage to retain Simpson they will have to replace him as well. It all boils down to the fact that no QB is going to succeed here unless they make the "O" line actually as good as some claim it is. It is better maybe than it has been in the past but it it NOT good.

You might be right, but, with all the draft picks and cap money they have there is absolutely no reason that should be the case next season.

Draft picks are the important part. This is one of if not the least desirable place to play for FA's in the NFL.

My money is on Burrows either staying put with the Bengals, MOST LIKELY, or retiring.
Is that you or cooncat ?
He’s tweeted or whatever it’s called his unhappiness
He’d make the Jets legit
But he’d go crying to his Godfather
Please don’t let this happen
Give it to Luca

Agree. I think the line is actually bad.
Myers extension doesn't have much guaranteed money so I can see him in a back up role, but he and Tippmann have been solid pass blockers. With all the picks invested in the o line, I expect more but the tackles really disappointed me. O line has been trash since Brick walked away.

Tippmann's run blocking grade is 77.3 and Myers' grade falls between 54 and 56 which is not even average. You are right about the money though and they gave themselves a way to get out after one season without much dead cap. That leads me to believe that the Jets have doubts about him long term.
