Jets Hire Brian Duker as Defensive Coordinator​

HC Aaron Glenn: ‘I’m Confident His Energy and Knowledge of the Game Will Help Elevate Our Players’​

The Jets have hired Brian Duker to be their defensive coordinator.
Head coach Aaron Glenn and Duker, 36, worked together for three seasons in Detroit when the former was defensive coordinator and the latter served as defensive assistant (2021), safeties coach (2022) and defensive backs coach (2023).
"During our time in Detroit, Brian consistently demonstrated a high-football acumen and an aggressive approach to defense," Glenn said. "I'm confident that his energy and knowledge of the game will help elevate our players and push this team forward."
Duker will stay in the AFC East after spending the past two seasons as the Miami Dolphins' pass game coordinator/secondary coach. From 2018-20, Duker was with the Baltimore Ravens where he served as a defensive staff assistant/coaching analyst for a season and a defensive coaching analyst for two seasons.
In 2015, Duker began his NFL career as a defensive intern on a Cleveland Browns' staff that included Glenn as the assistant secondary/cornerbacks coach. Duker then moved to the San Francisco 49ers in 2016 under DC Jim O'Neil and assumed a defensive analyst role. He began his coaching trek at Bryant in 2011 as a defensive graduate assistant and spent time as a graduate assistant in recruiting and defensive quality control at Missouri (2013-14).

As I pointed out before, Duker got the job because he was the only one willing to take the job and let Glenn call the plays. The others were interested but not willing to take the job under those conditions. Several sources stated this as the reason we wound up with whatever it is that we wound up with.

As bad as this year was, and to me, it felt like our worst ever, I think somehow, someway, next season is going to make this season almost look good.

Glen needs to focus on learning to be a HC running the Team not focusing on what he used to do. Mistake. As HC Glen can tell DC how he wants it to look but not add duties to himself being HC. Bad idea. Veteran HC s take over as OC or DC seen this mistake with Jets last HC in training.

I seem to remember that when they were in Detroit, the team was winning a lot of 45-35 games.
So, with this guy coaching the defense and looking at what we have on offense, I expect them to be in a lot of 10-35 games.

Would you want to be the OC or DC of a team that will probably win less than 4 games?
No up and coming young coach wants that on their resume.

Let Mougey pick his own HC.

Im anxious to see how He does in the draft.
Love what he got for our 2 "defensive stars" in trade.
Maybe a QB wows all them at the combine and Mougey parlays that into a deal at 2.

I heard that same thing, it makes no sense at all. I can believe that Woody stuck his big nose in, but he obviously IS paying for a new DC unless they got Duker to come here and work for free. I seriously doubt that. I have trouble believing the part about Mouge as well. As far as I can see everyone in the NFL, and even these desk jockey analyzers, seem to believe that he has done a pretty darn good job for the Jets so far. His rep is solid and untarnished by the shitty coaching job that occurred with this team. He didn't hire the coaching staff. He made the extra effort to put the team in good financial shape with the cap and lots of draft picks. Why would he do that if leaving was his intent. I think that RUMOR was just a bunch of gobble-de-gook designed to get clicks.
