Just watched a Youtube vid that claims that the NFL consists of ten or so well-supported franchises (Cowboys, Steelers, Packers, Bills, Patriots etc.) and the rest, which includes the Jets 'despite' them being in one of the biggest media markets in the country. Now IMO some franchises destroyed their popularity by moving around (Chargers, Raiders, Rams) or lost their identity with a name change (Washington). And I can remember back when the Bills and Patriots sucked and the support wasn't so fanatical. I believe there was a waiting list for Jet season tickets in the Sack Exchange days, though not as long as the Giants' list.

So is the lower level of support for the Jets simply a result of years of futility, or are there other factors like:
- moving out of New York.
- being tenants of the Giants (not any more but it still seems that way).
- being screwed by PSLs.

I’m going to say all three. The moment the Jets moved from Shea Stadium to the Meadowlands, they truly became the Giants little orphan brothers that not many even acknowledged their existence!

Yes, the Jets might have needed to get out of Shea but they didn’t and shouldn’t have moved in with the Giants! Not only do they move in with cross town rivals but they move out of New York State. WTF man!

Then you have the many losing streaks and laughing stock stories surrounding the Jets. If it wasn’t one thing it was another. From the Rich Kotite and Keyshawn Johnson disaster to Billy boy quitting on us right after an introductory press conference and by a note at that. To the butt fumble and seeing ghost and Brett Favre and A Rod circuses. While the Giants won 4 Super Bowls in that span of time.

Last is PSL’s issue. I don’t know much about that. I’ve never been a season ticket holder to this point but plan to be in the near future. I continue to hear horror stories about it and that would piss me off also.

A lot of Woody's sins would have been forgiven if he'd moved the Jets back into New York instead of agreeing another stadium share. With only one team wearing down the pitch they could have used proper grass. No Giants fan would ever laugh at a Jets fan again for fear of being called the Joisey Giants.
