Ah Oh----Wilkerson no show for OTA's

The Jets are under no current immediate deadline to extend Wilkerson. Of course I want him back for a long time, but I cannot fault the team for not being in a hurry over this. Players are always saying "it's just business". Well, there you go.

I'm still leaning heavily towards an extension before this becomes too hairy.

I honestly tend to agree, but think how we are treating Mo is digging ourselves a hole for the Richardson contract discussions. I expect that to be a nightmare.

Well, the top 3 3-4 DEs in the entire NFL right now are watt, Wilkerson, and Richardson. Wilkerson grades out the #1 de in all of football vs the run.

If you are top 3 at your position in the NFL...you're pretty good. Maybe not All time Reggie white good, but he isn't in the league right now...

So we have a guy only 1 team has a better player at his position...that's a serious asset no matter how you want to minimize it.

Btw, the only defensive lineman at any position better against the run for the second year in a row than Wilkerson...is snacks.

Not that facts would mean anything in this debate...

LOL -- let's see if I understand your definition of "facts":

1) The Jets have already traded Mo away for a bag of peanuts
2) Sheldon is already holding out for partial ownership of the team
3) Leonard Williams will be out of the league by 2020
4) The Jets will draft DL in the first round for the rest of the century
5) It's all Idzik's fault

Pretty sure you gave up caring about "facts" 10 seconds after the Jets handed their draft card in . . .

I mentioned this before, but Macc hasn't done anything wrong. The previous regime pushed the Wilkerson talks to the back burner. Macc had to deal with issues that were time sensitive before he could seriously get something done with Mo. Now, I think Macc is focused on doing just that. both sides need to compromise though. Also, Richardson does have a high opinion of himself, but I wouldn't compare him to Revis. Revis was taught as a young boy from his uncle about the financial ways of the league. He was about the money from the start. I don't see that same level of thought from Richardson. Also, for all we know, Richardson could be dealing with some family issues now. I don't think he's making any statements.

The best you could do was deflect to other subjects to avoid a worthwhile response to my post? Wow. I thought you were smarter than this. Thank you for this post. It shows your lack of intellect and ability to have a worthwhile conversation.

Look how BB has treated good players in his time with the Pats. Kelly with the Eagles has dumped or traded Pro Bowlers LeSean McCoy, De Sean Jackson and Foles yet you think only the Jets have problems because they are not treating Mo right in your opinion?? The Tuna would dump or trade players without a thought Hugh Douglas was just one.. I don't think Mac has done anything wrong, I think he's doing what he feels is best for the team and I bet when Sept comes Mo will be in the lineup.. Of course it may not be the Jets lineup..LOL

This post was so long ago I don't even remember what started it.

But PLEASE don't act like you care about worthwhile conversation -- I learned a while ago your agenda ALWAYS takes precedence . . .

@RichCimini With only 6 mill under the cap what type of deal will it take to resign Mo ? #jetsmail

@RichCimini: Don't get hung up on the $6 million figure; that won't be an obstacle in the Jets' ability to sign Muhammad Wilkerson to a contract extension. Remember, he's already counting $6.97 million on the cap, and they probably can reduce that charge with a certain structure. For instance: Robert Quinn, a first-round pick in Wilkerson's draft class, played last season at a $3 million cap charge after signing a long-term extension. I understand Wilkerson is seeking at least $40 million in guarantees. Quinn got $15.7 million in full guarantees at signing, plus another $25.6 million in rolling guarantees for a total of $41.3 million. Most would say Wilkerson isn't on Quinn's level, but he's close. After drafting Leonard Williams, the Jets have a considerable amount of leverage. They're apparently in no rush to get a deal done.
