What kind of coach will Todd Bowles be?

Do you think he is the answer? Do you think he is the kind of man that can go tit for tat with Bellichick and win? Quite honestly, right now I do not believe the Jets have the talent necessary to give the Patsies any real challenge. But soon enough, with all of the great acquisitions that MacCagnan has made this team should be able to compete with the Patsies. Especially where Brady has been steadily declining for a few seasons now.

Do you believe that Bowles will be a great X's and O's guy and have the right response in a big game like Rex did back in the 2010 playoffs?

I think it goes without saying that Bowles will be much more involved and in tune with what the offense is doing. That's one of the reasons Rex is gone now. But will Bowles be able to have the kind of defensive success that Rex had with us, meanwhile the offense begins to improve and come around?

The fact was, after Rex's first couple of seasons, I started looking back at so many complete failures the Jets have had in their past. Guys like Herm, Al Groh, and Mangini? These guys sucked and were completely incompetent in comparison. It got me scared that we should not be so ready to fire Rex if he f*cks up, because a coach with his ability/success is hard to find.

So lets hear it. Do you think that the Jets have found their SB winning coach? Because that is all that I care about, and so should you. It doesn't matter what he does well or bad, he will ultimately be viewed as a failure if he does not win the SB. Just like how Jets fans view Rex at this point.

Just hearing how prepared Bowles appears perepetuates what type of head coach he will become.
Here he talks about the schedule: http://www.newyorkjets.com/videos/vi...1-5b5e26ac50c8

He is as honest and straight forward as possible. You can tell the guy is a disciplinarian and not a "RA-Ra" type of guy. More of a "DO YOUR JOB" head coach. He's been around the best of the best:
Joe Gibbs
Bill Parcells
Bruce Arians
Andy Reid
It's all about football as a team instead of the front pages in the off season or none-related topics during the season.

This is why i feel, any discussion will come back to the QB position. Because of who Bowles has been around, he had QB's that were leaders in the locker room and off the field:

Doug Williams
Mark Rypien
Vinny Testaverde
Chad Pennington
Donavan McNabb
Carson Palmer

He will not stand for some one who misses team meetings or places the team in the worst of position at continually turning the ball over. Thats where the Geno debate becomes so intriguing at what management thinks of him.

Geno has his work cut out for him come end of July. The competition will be like none other than he has ever experienced. Hopefully he proves the majority wrong and turns into a solid pro that Bowles can count on for years to come.

Just to give you guys a heads up, these are the coaches Bowles has surrounded himself with:

A great one. Will hold players accountable first and foremost for the actions. Whether that be on the field with poor play or negative attitudes. Also off the field actions. Defensive mind like no other. As good as Rex in fact. Will care about offense and especially QBs and will assist in the development of their future to success. Seems like a very smart man so time management, uses of time outs period, play situation calling and what player packages he will have input in for the better. Finally, will be apart of the right decisions in building this team correctly and keeping it a contender. Through the draft, FAs, trades and resigning, cutting and franchise tagging players. We have ourselves a HC here people. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets

I like coaches that played on the NFL - think they just have a great understanding of the game and the players

I think he's a solid defensive X's and O's guy. His schemes in Arizona made the most use of his talent. He was aggressive there. He's also cerebral. Rex was good with schemes, but never struck me as that cerebral. Bowles seems much more so than Rex.

Big picture, he's not going to be a no rules players' coach the way Rex was, and he will hold his guys accountable. But he also seems likable. The guys who have played for him certainly seem to like him, so he didn't have to run a frat house to get them to want to play for him.

He'll be refreshing for a lot of guys seeking more structure, and for those who prefer not being held accountable, he may be a bad fit. The question is, do you want those guys on your team, anyway?

Lets put it this way ...

If you play for the NY Jets, the party is over.

Bowles played for Joe Gibbs and two of his mentors are Parcells and Bruce Arians.

All three were/are all about business, its not a joke, you work hard and play hard or you play for somebody else.

Fair enough so we go to the AFCCG this year..:smiley-cool11:

Rex inherited a playoff caliber roster in 2009. Bowles is taking over a team that won 4 games. Now, Macc has added a lot of talent, but it's not quite the same situation.

So Rex Ryan was picking the players after all? That's news to me.

Please read the book Collision Low Crossers then tell me how you feel about Rex as a HC. I know that after reading it myself, I was stunned that Ryan wasn't booted with Tannenbaum after 2012. You wouldn't believe the issues Rex caused personnel wise behind the scenes and the opinion some of his closest allies(Pettine) began to have of him. Ryan only survived here as long as he did because Woody genuinely like him.

I believe no one knows what Todd Bowles will be as a head coach, as someone else said so far he is turning out to be the Anti-Rex. Will He waste time outs, or not call time outs when he should. Will he call challenges without being sure he should throw the red flag. Will he run the wild cat. We all shall see in preseason.

I hope Todd Bowles will be judged by the coach and man he is, not the coach and man his predecessor was.

Good point. No matter how much the posters on here hate Rex, there are still the vast majority who love Rex. Inevitably, whatever goes wrong in Bowles administration, it will be criticized for not being "the way Rex would have done it" or "If Rex were here, that would not have happened".

There's a lot of room for compare/contrast and debate whether Todd compares to Rex. I am sure that is what the fans and media will do.

Bowles has some large shoes to fill and he must know that. The best way to stop the nonsense from people that are not "in the know", is to WIN. As soon as possible, show progress. If he wins a SB? It will bust that nonsense wide open. The longer it takes for him? The larger the stage he will be giving his detractors. It's all up to him and what he wants to make of his opportunity in NY.
