Looking forward to taking my new granddaughter to Disney world in a few years and show her my favorite part
I guess it's safe to say that Bowles thinks Ham's way of thinking is basically guff?
I have a very fond and newfound RESPECT for Todd Bowles. LOGIC dictated that the Jets hold an open QB competition. That was truly the ONLY way.
Clarification by Bowles very clearly shows that Geno has not been given ANYTHING. He will only get what he earns and I 100% agree with that.

I listened to his press conference and he said exactly what I said, that its important to designate a starter going into camp so he can get all of the first team reps, but of course if he stinks he can lose the job, but right now Geno is the starter and he will take the majority of the first team reps. I said the same thing, and I never said he couldn't lose the job.I guess it's safe to say that Bowles thinks Ham's way of thinking is basically guff?
The only difference with what Gailey said and what Bowles said, Bowles was more emphatic that Geno will have to play well and perform well in practice to remain # 1 on the depth chart, which any fool knows, Gailey didn't have to say it, it was always implied and I said as much myself, but both guys agreed that Geno is the # 1 entering camp and that its important to name a # 1 for the sake of the reps, you can't have multiple QB's dividing the first team reps. The quotes are in the OTA thread, but Bowles said that the starting job is Smith's to lose.Called him the starter unless something changes. This seems to be a case of people getting carried away one way or the other with semantics.

Agreed.
I also think that someone needs to be at the top of the depth chart, and without any practice in yet, they had to place someone at the top of that spot. The media likely made too much of Gailey's comments. Geno is the 1 right now, but being the 1 in May and being the 1 in September are two radically different positions.

Bowles on QB: "I view it as open competition.Geno will be the starter. It's his to lose' Other QBs will have to take it away.
If you exclude the fanatics on both sides of the QB debate this is what the majority of people in the middle have thought all along. The best QB will play the majority of our games this year.Eric Allen @eallenjets · 3h3 hours ago

I think it is fair to have opinions on who we think should start. I know I have mine and stated who and my reasons.Exactly....... as I said, personally, I don't care who the qb turns out to be as long as he's able to pull his weight and help what appears to be a talented roster reach it's potential.

You're kidding yourself if you think Bowles endorsed a real QB competition. Just because he used the word "competition", doesn't mean he endorsed a QB competition in any real sense. A real QB competition means two QB's split the first team reps equally, and the snaps in the preseason with the first team (from week to week), may the best man win. If one guy is getting 90+% of the first team reps, which Bowles himself suggested will be the case with Geno, then you don't have a QB competition, what you have is one guy being anointed the starter, but he's being told that he has to perform to keep his hold on that position, which is common sense, nobody ever disputed that, certainly I never did. However, your thread pretty much said that it isn't wise to hold an open QB competition. That just simply isn't true.
Gailey simply appointing Geno as the starter was the same complete stupidity that Rex Ryan did. NO different.
Bowles has set the record straight and I couldn't be happier.
EVERYONE knew what had to happen here. There was no other way
Nothing has changed from PRIOR to Gailey's statement.
The QB who performed best in OTA, minicamp, TC and preseason will be the starter in September
Sit back, relax and watch Geno be Geno and thankfully get to enjoy our first season with a competent QB since Bret Favre got hurt
