I also think this is the best roster the Jets have brought to Training Camp in a looooong time; however, the Bills & Flipper's are also loaded in a very tough AFC East division. It is now a 4 team race to the playoffs.
Go Jets...Cyborg
Staying healthy free is impossible in the NFL, somebody will get hurt. Guarantee it but the only question is who will it be and can they recover from it? If its a key player like Cro or Ivory, then will the other players step up or not. If its the 3rd or 4th string guys then it shouldn't hurt us as much. Casserly and his counterpart did a great job in hiring Mac and Bowles and Bowles and Mac have done a great job in putting this team together. This is a 10 win team at least. As long as the QB does a decent job at least and the injuries aren't that devastating. I think the team sees and knows their potential for what they can do this year and will be hungry to do it. So that shouldn't be an issue.I think it is a play-off team also, question is can we stay injury free.
Thats a good point and a huge omission on my part. I think most of us just assume Bowles will be a good HC because his credentials as an assistant are pretty impressive (from the Gibbs, Parcells, Arians coaching tree) and its no secret some smart football people think he's going to be a terrific HC, including Mac whose seemingly done everything right since the day he was hired, but the truth of it is, YOU NEVER KNOW what a new HC will be until the actual bullets start flying.Aside from injuries, it's gonna come down to coaching.
We know what our opponents have, now we just have to see what we bring to the table . . .
Thats true, only I don't think it should take half a season. I think all of the off season (OTA's, Mini Camp etc.), followed by training camp and the preseason, and perhaps the first month of the regular season, should be suffice to get this team on the same page and all moving in the same (right) direction.2) We have new systems on both sides of the ball and it will be difficult to come out of gate firing on all cylinders. It always takes time for a team to learn a new system and it may be mid-season or later before things really begin to click.

Lawdy knows HYATT™ has had more than his share of negative comments to make about the Jets over the past couple of seasons...
BUT!
HYATT™ ALSO warned Jets fans to EXPECT a couple of rough years until they could clear up the HolMEs & Snatchez contract situations and find a decent starting QB - 2015 being the predicted return to competitiveness made by NostraHYATT™ all the way back in late 2012.
It could have gone belly-up on HYATT™ had Idzik retained his position, but thankfully for NostraHYATT™'s prediction streak, he did not.
Rex Ryan being deposed made much less difference in the grand scheme of things than many would suspect.
Even had Rex Ryan remained, this would be an AFCC game competitive squad this season.
HYATT™ expects nothing less than a run for the Big Dance in 2015 & as far as I know, HYATT™ is the first kid on the block to make that prediction.

What also helps is having players on both sides of the ball that know the systems in Cro and Fitz. Players giving tips and pointers to others players is an advantage.Thats true, only I don't think it should take half a season. That said, I think the schedule is really working in our favor here, it should allow us to win games even while we are in the process of coming together as a football team over the first month.
Week 1 we should smoke the Cleveland Browns in our home opener. If we don't win that game, IMO Geno's last shot as the starter should end after one game. I'm not kidding, I would pull the plug after one game if he doesn't do enough to beat the Browns in our home opener, or even worse, does something galactically stupid to give them the game. Thats a game we should and better win. If he can't beat the Browns, he shouldn't get another chance to ruin our season. Case closed.
Week 2 at the Colts. I personally believe Indy is vastly overrated because they have Andrew Luck. Take away Luck and IMO thats a 6 win team, and I'm being generous. So while its a game where Indy will be favored and perhaps a game they should win at home, by no means do I view this as a game the Jets can't win on the road. Again, if the QB doesn't stink and actually makes a few plays, its a road game we can steal with strong defense and oh say, 20 Points on offense verses a weak Colts defense in my view.
Week 3 verses Eagles. Chip Kelly tore this team apart so he could rebuild it in his own image, but that too will take some time and IMO they are not nearly as talented as they were in recent years. IMO this is another home game we should win.
Week 4 at Miami. We'll be underdogs and its a game we'll probably lose, but much like the Colts, I don't view Miami as a team we can't beat on the road. I hate to beat a dead horse, but our defense should hold Miami under 20, so the QB just needs to make some plays and not choke.
Week 5 verses Redskins. Obviously its a home game we should win.
So we have five weeks to come together as a team and we should still emerge from those five games no worse than 3-2, 4-1 if we can steal one of those road games in Indy or Miami, both games we have a chance to win on the road.

every little bit helps..
i think it would "help" even more if fitzpatrick can pass on his familiarity with gailey's philosophies as the starting QB..
i'm sure cro is as well but it would be stunning if he's not our second CB this season, wouldn't it??The trade to the Jets reunited Fitzpatrick with Gailey, who was his head coach with the Bills from 2010-12. Fitzpatrick has spent the offseason recovering from a broken left leg. He has begun participating in team drills during OTAs and hopes to be able to practice without restrictions in next week’s minicamp.
“I feel good,” Fitzpatrick said. “It’s great to be back in this offense. It’s something I’m very familiar with. Just taking the things I’ve learned the last few years out of this offense and trying to apply them, whether it’s my footwork or my timing, trying to apply them to what we do here. It’s been a lot of fun for me to, not necessarily to move, but to get on a new team and to be the guy that everybody’s coming to to ask questions and to have a lot of those answers. It’s been an enjoyable experience so far.” Read more
I am sure Cro is doing the same thing and I am sure it will continue into training camp.
