Ok. Let's play that game. Year one was a wash.... But do you really want to use getting torched by the best QB in the game as a measuring stick vs, Geno playing, being historically awful, getting benched in 2014?
QB is far harder to play, no doubt. But Milliner hasn't done as poorly vs his peers at the same position as Geno has against his. You expect a rookie to have growing pains in year one. You don't expect them to regress in year two.
And yes... Despite his stat improvement in 2014' I believe Geno regressed in year 2. It just doesn't look as bad due to the anomaly of week 17 against Miami.
add to the fact that you can disguise bad CB play a lot easier than bad QB and can afford a longer learning curve. If your QB is playing awful, you simply cannot hide it. Rex tried last year and we ended up as a joke.
Milliner going into 2015 is like Geno going into 2014 in my eyes....however even then it will be harder to gauge his play as he wont be starting. I wouldn't even think about cutting bait with the kid until at least the 2016 season.
I never said cut either of them, and I respect that view, I just think they're both in "show me" years...with less pressure on Milliner.
