FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – It took his own teammate and a fellow cornerback to ask the most brazen of questions when New York Jets cornerback Dee Milliner addressed the media on Tuesday. It was Antonio Cromartie, who put his teammate Milliner on the spot about offseason rumors that he might be out of New York.
Milliner, already labeled a bust here in New York after two injury-riddled seasons with the Jets, spoke to the media on Tuesday at the start of minicamp, his first public comments since the end of last year. He's had two rough seasons in New York, including multiple benchings during his rookie season and then last year where he had season-ending an Achilles injury in mid-October.
Between the end of the year and now, the Jets signed three starting cornerbacks, two of who have Pro Bowl resumes in Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. They are moves that likely make Milliner a backup on the depth chart.
So on Tuesday, Cromartie, who was in a jovial mood when he grabbed the microphone of the SNY television camera joined the scrum around Milliner, hit his teammate with two questions.
The first one was rather innocuous, with Cromartie asking: “Question here: How do you feel?”
“I feel great. I've been doing my rehab like I was supposed to, my treatment. I've been moving around, being able to cut, do some movements,” Milliner responded with a grin to Cromartie. “So I feel great.”
The grin slid away when Cromartie followed up:
“Do you feel confident going into the season? There's a lot of talk saying you're on the roster bubble, [that] you're here to make the team. Do you feel and have the confidence that you and in your ability that you can do the things you're supposed to do?”
Boom. With teammates like this, who actually needs an opponent come the regular season? Milliner, to his credit, answered the ticking time bomb well.
“Oh most definitely. When I come out there I do what I'm supposed to do. Do my work, get better each day,” Milliner said. “Compete like I'm supposed to, like nothing ever happened. Just be out there.”
Cromartie then turned to the reporters and smiled and walked away, handing over the SNY microphone and leaving the scrum. After Cromartie walked away, Milliner was asked by a reporter if he wanted his teammate's job. His response was timeless.
“Which one?” Milliner said. “Announcer or corner?”

From the number 1 Milliner critic lets get some things straight....
NO ONE is saying the Jets should give up on Milliner. It would be foolish to simply give up the 9th overall pick from just two seasons ago. Milliner will at least get this entire season, and I would advocate one more, to prove himself.
But when it comes to your post?! Enough with the lame A$$ nonsense. The article mentioning Milliner spells it out quite nicely. He came to the Jets with an injury. After finally being ready to play in the 2013 season, it was determined very quickly that his play was AWFUL. He got benched several times because he was offering up a gigantic hole on his side of the field.
Saying he improved through the 2nd half of the season is complete nonsense as well. He really only started to see a lot more playing time at the week 12 point of the season. When he started he was OK, nothing more, nothing less.
His last 2 games he played admittedly above average including one game against the pathetic and very underwhelming Miami Dolphins.:sleeping:
Last season he was a train wreck from start to finish. No other or more impressive way to put it.
At this point, this guy is nothing more than 100% bonafide BUM. A complete WASTE of the 9th overall pick.
My take on this guy is that he's a walking injury and an excuse maker. If this keeps up, the Jets should cut bait with the loser.

It's pretty much universally agreed on that he started 2013 poorly (as many rookies do), but he showed progress in the later part of the year. If you have issues calling it the second half, the call it the last third, or the last 1/5th. What does it matter, the point is that he showed progress.
Then he gets hurt early in 2014 and then has the Achillies injury (which has nothing to do with his pre existing issue with the shoulder)

That's not being reactionary, that's called identifying the situation we find ourselves in.
Injuries matter when you're talking about how successful a young player has been. It directly affects the players bust/success status.
Well, Milliner has been injured 3 times in two seasons. Milliner has primarily had terrible play when he's been on the field. He has played a grand total of HALF the games since being drafted.
Now, you can stroke the loser all you want. But what is mentioned above constitutes, at this point, with all things considered, a BUM. A bust pure and simple.
That's not being reactionary, that's acknowledging all of the facts, good and bad, and then telling like it is.
As Ham already posted in another thread, and I still can't stop laughing about, Milliner needs to get a job before he can lose it.
