Latest Update on Mo Wilkerson: I don’t have anything to prove to “those people upstairs"

Great news. I had concerns that he would stay away effecting his ability to learn the playbook.

I wonder where mac really has him graded at.

I really think mac will shop him if williams shows he can play at the nfl level.

I think he being a little coy....I think he knows how good Mo is..but doesnt want to seem like an eager school boy asking a girl to the prom....he is under contract.so he will be at camp..somehow I think the Brandon Marshall renegotiation has something to do with this..dont know particulars..but I think it does..especially since Marshall can be released after 2016 season with no cap hit or responsibility

I doubt we traded for marshall for one season though, and I don't see him taking a huge cut to resign with us. He may be trying to be coy which is all fine and good but he is a man of opportunities and if dealing mo assuming Williams can play at the nfl level helps the team acquire someone he wants more which seems to be draft picks I don't see him letting that slip by.

I would be surprised if Jets signed Wilkerson long term and guarantee 40 million. The team has Williams, who is the better talent, albeit, unproven. I also think Coples could occupy that spot if needed. Williams is going to take snaps away from Wilkerson, diminishing his value with the team. I would rather keep Wilkerson for the season but if a 1st round pick became available I would sacrifice this years production for a good asset in next years draft.

I dont want people to downplay Mo's ability because there is a contract thing..he is a GREAT player and he is good on run also.....maybe not JJ WATT good but definitely Cameron heyward...

It would actually be 2 seasons..this and 2016...doesnt mean we potentially dont want him 2017..just leaves door of flexibilty with him open so you are not handcuffed by him..and its something Marshall agreed to ..so he is amenable to it..and he has other interests...maybe after 2 more years he says enough.....picks up and retires...

I wouldnt be so quick to give him up for a first..the kid is still young..could be entering his prime...you trade him..get a an injury..and this board is screaming.."WHY DID THEY TRADE MO ?"

If the team had no Wilkerson, just Richardson and recently drafted Williams, would you want to sign Cameron Jordan to the contract received from the Saints? That is how the front office may be looking at things. There is no sentiment involved.

I think we also gave to consider that Harrison will likely be gone shortly. Someone will offer him a huge contract and if they trade Wilk, we will have two holes to fill.

I do also think he is better than Heyward..I dont know what their stats are..but not including last year they are playing more in front during games, which allows a player to be fresher compared to Jets last 3 years

Hopefully they sign Mo to an extension like, 5 yrs 12.3m with 35 m guaranteed.. I actually think that Richardson will be the harder player to resign when it's his turn to get a PAY DAY... So I'd keep Mo and go down the road....

fyi - minor thing, but minicamp starts next week, not today. voluntary OTAs end this week and mandatory minicamp is next week

He's actually better against the run than JJ Watt or Suh. Only Harrison (Snacks) has graded out better vs the run the last 2 years than Wilkerson.

Maybe Mac doesn't believe in negotiating with holdouts. Once he's in the building, maybe he will pick up contract talks. He wouldn't be the first GM to not negotiate with holdouts.

Despite an earlier report, Chad Wiestling, the agent for defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson and his agent have not yet decided whether Wilkerson will attend the Jets' three-day mandatory minicamp next week, Darryl Slater of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

"We have yet to decide whether to attend or not," Wiestling wrote in an email Thursday afternoon.

The New York Post, citing an anonymous source close to Wilkerson, reported earlier Thursday that Wilkerson planned to attend minicamp.

Wilkerson, who wants a new long-term contract from the Jets, hasn't attended any of their voluntary workouts, which began in early April. But after the Jets conclude organized team activities on Friday, their next practices — next week's Tuesday-through-Thursday minicamp — will be mandatory.

Just hoping this doesn't get ugly..

If you think Muhammad Wilkerson isn't showing up to mandatory minicamp, think again.

Wilkerson: "It’s a business. I guess it takes a long time. This is new to me. But hopefully something will get done soon."

Wilkerson has to understand that there's a long tradition of give and take when the team agrees to tear up your rookie deal and give you a new contract much earlier than they need too. Its not something the team needs to do and it benefits the player because its a collision sport with a 100% injury rate, at some point every player gets injured, so this protects you from losing BIG MONEY if you suffer a serious injury. In turn the player has to be flexible and give the team a small discount, thats the give and take of the situation and it always has been.
