I don't care about more fans. I just want more wins. 6 straight losing seasons is enough.
I'm a Yankee fan, but I see the Mets as being "this close" to having a dominant 5+ Years run. Their young starting pitching is the envy of baseball. Harvey, Syndergard, DeGrom and Matz, wholly chit, we could be looking at a run like the Braves had in the 90's. All the Mets need to do is add another bat or two and they are going to be lethal.

I agree with you about the future. But you have to understand my frame of mind right now. I have been sitting on the couch for the last 5 hours, watching 15 innings of baseball in which the Mets are 1-21 with runners in scoring position. I am not sure how they even scored a run today. Its been painful to watch.

Gold, I'm gonna take this conversation to the Mets thread in the other forum, I'll respond there.

Ownership would never allow the payroll to approach nine figures. Never happen.

This is going to be a great pitching staff and an opportunity missed, because ownership won't actually support those pitchers by investing in the offense.

Yanks are overzealous when it comes to the market. Mets are gunshy, at least since Madoff.

Reminds me a bit of '69. :)

No apology needed. I have personal gone back and forth with sg3 for months and I had to stop myself before I got banned. He really knows how to get under a persons skin. I had or choice to even step away from posting because it seemed that everytime I posted about anything, especially involving the QB and Geno in particular, he had something directly to say back in a negative and condescending way. So trust me, I know where your coming from. Water under the bridge and we move on.

If they let this pitching go to waste because they won't pay for some impact bats, that would be criminal.

If the Yankees had these four young pitchers, they would bring in the bats to make themselves invincible.

Missed what happened........... but, this place should be a fun destination for Jets fans, and fans of other teams to visit to talk football, as well as make use of the other forums to get to know one another better. It's understandable that at times things can get heated..........however respect is very important and everyone should make the effort not to cross the line. Also, to come here with the sole purpose of instigating and agitating without contributing anything meaningful is a poor decision to say the least.

No sweat. sg's coming back. He's going on vacation, then we will see his smiling face again. :)

I hesitated to respond when the topic was broached for exactly that reason, I knew this wasn't the forum for it, so I should have let it pass without comment, thats my mistake and I apologize for it, and you can feel free to delete my post if you wish, I won't take any offense to it.
Never apologize

Last night the exchange between sg3 and I was unnecessary and should have been kept private.

That will never happen to anyone else. He was a special circumstance.

Honestly the most important part of this board is to not be a troll and try to cause fights with our other members.

All it does is make it difficult for our mods to monitor this board.

Best,

Honestly, we are adults, we shouldn't need to be warned to not attack people because we disagree with their ideas.

That being said, if anyone disagrees with me, I'll kick their as!

I'm not apologizing for my opinion, cuz, just for the forum I chose to express it in. I know there's a separate forum for that kind of discussion and I should have used it. But my POV is something I never apologize for. If its not PC, so be it.

You're right, it does, only the Mets GM back then was a moron who traded Seaver and Nolan Ryan.

Didn't know that. But in '69 Ryan was pretty erratic. Can't say trading him was bonehead at that time. And Seaver wasn't traded to the Chisox until when? Around 1980?

Anyways, this all reminds me of George Burns in his role as God (1977?) who said something like "My last miracle was the '69 Mets." Let's hope the next miracle is the 2015 Mets!

Seaver was traded in 77 because the Mets didn't want to pay him (some things never change :)), and while Ryan certainly was wild in his younger days, it was crazy to give up so quickly on such amazing arm talent. Koufax was erratic too in his early years, couldn't throw strikes to save his life, and look what he became. You have to be patient with power pitchers.

The GM that built the 69 team, Johnny Murphy, died of a heart attack a few months after the 69 Series. He had no part of the Ryan trade or the subsequent Seaver deal. Two different GMS were responsible for those deals.
