Wait

Now you are comparing Geno favorably with Joe Namath??

And I foolishly thought we'd reached an all time forum low when the king of the pom pom wavers favorably compared our very own worst QB in the NFL for 2013 and 2014 with Tom Brady
A new topper in ridiculously contrived comparisons to support Rick Mirer Jr
Sorry, but I didn't think I needed to put the "this isn't a comparison of the two" disclaimer in there. Next time I will dumb down my response to deal with folks who take everything literally. It's pointless trying to have any sort of intelligent conversation with people who are so dug in to their beliefs. The difference between you and me is that I'm willing to accept whatever success or failure GS has.

I'd add that the fact that he stinks turns off most Jet fans too.

Especially those of us who've plunked down $1525 per ticket for 2 seasons to watch it

Jet fans also booed Kellen Clemens, Browning Nagle, Brooks Bollinger, Quincy Carter, Neil ODonnell, Al Woodall etc for much the same reasons

And those same idiots cheered when Pennington got hurt.

So 'Jet fans' boo a young and developing QB for getting strip sacked and otherwise going 10-13 with 2 TDs. How about supporting your team - what a pathetic and sad display.

Understand Old15, unless Geno plays mistake-free football, he'll be roasted by those who hate him. There's literally zero margin for error. He cannot succeed under those circumstances, so it's almost pointless to even debate it. The best QB's make occasional mistakes, too. But Geno's are amplified because of the last two years.

You guys do realize that two fans who were ACTUALLY THERE are saying they saw cause for concern, right? Many of the same things we've had to endure his whole career -- locking on receivers, loose ball management, inaccuracy, etc. Is their personal experience/opinion diminished because it doesn't agree with the Pro-Geno crowd? A bunch of fans who (understandably) HOPE he becomes the answer, but have nothing but a few preseason practices to base that hope on?

I understand there are some here who take their Geno-hate to the extreme. I do not consider Elias or NYJETSDAN16 to be those kinds of fans.

Geno has PLENTY of margin for error, and he's gonna need it as NO ONE is expecting him to be Peyton Manning right out of the gate (or ever). But that margin has been WAY too wide thus far, and at least two fans with eyewitness experience don't feel that gap has lessened as much as they'd like.

They might be right, they might be wrong. But no need to disqualify what they say because it doesn't fit our pipe-dream agenda . . .

People need to realize that in some plays, especially in Gailey's offense the QB is supposed to stare down a receiver. Just like looking off a safety, in multiple route situations the QB will stare down a receiver to get a specific read, with a specific secondary target depending on how the defense reacts. Staring down a receiver is not always bad. Sometimes it is, but unless you know the play you cannot blanket say that he is "staring down" his receivers.

Fair enough, and hopefully you're right.

I just didn't want eyewitness account to be automatically thrown into the "Geno-bashing" file . . .

At this point booing Geno serves no practical purpose.

I can see booing him if he stinks when the games start to count, but right now he represents our best chance to have a successful season so it makes no sense to damage his confidence by booing him at practice, especially when he's been having a terrific training camp by all accounts.

Right now I'm supporting the kid because I know Ryan Fitzpatrick is NOT the answer and Petty simply is NOT ready. If Fitzpatrick is the starter, we'll be lucky to be a .500 team, he's a career Journeyman, the definition of JAG (Just Another Guy), so we better hope the light goes on for Geno in year three.

When does booing ever serve "a practical purpose"?

All it does is express displeasure, and some fans have seen enough to be in "permanent displeasure mode". Others have said they'll give him until the bye. If they start booing him week 5, I GUARANTEE there will be supporters out there telling them "booing doesn't help".

If Geno is upset by the booing, he should be even more encouraged by the support he's receiving, despite his first two unproductive seasons.

If that's not enough, he's not cut out for this city and might as well leave now . . .

That's the intelligent way to look at it. I think at this point there are 3-4 posters left who look at it the other way than the intelligent way.

#15 said it best when he said, "The difference between you and me is that I'm willing to accept whatever success or failure GS has."

"Waiving your pom poms at Geno" may be considered a bad thing in some people's eyes, I consider it being a Jets fan. The minute Fitzpatrick becomes our starting QB, we're playing for next year.

Geno has zero margin for error with those who highlight the mistakes and minimize the good plays. I can see right through most of this. Yes, it's just practice. Which is why his mistakes shouldn't be taken any more seriously than his two TD's to Marshall (Revis and Cro covering) and his completion percentage. You can't have it both ways: calling his success "just practice" while highlighting a strip sack that was influenced by the fact that Geno held the ball longer than usual because he knew he wasn't going to get hit.

We can spin this any way we choose.

Booing a guy AT PRACTICE who's trying to take a big step forward as our QB is a sign that part of our fan base are losers.

IMHO.

Well booing a scrimmage or practice is ridiculous... I lost faith in him and until he proves he understands ball security, can make progressive reads - consistently, my opinion will not change. I will support him because he is out QB....

This criticism I can accept. It's at least giving the guy a chance. He's our starter. Let's encourage him until he gives us reason not to. If he fails, pull him. But bashing him right now makes no sense to me. Sometimes players take steps forward in year 3. It's not unheard of.

He knew exactly what you meant. That's just his way of keeping the drama and negativity going. Some people are just happier that way.

I would hope geno has a good year, however, I have no problem with season ticket"investors " using their limited access to let a turnover prone qb know they don't want to see fumbles. Especially in a limited contact practice wearing a red jersey.

Following a practice at MetLife Stadium on Saturday and an off day on Sunday, the Jets return to practice at Florham Park on Monday. Stretching starts at 1:50 p.m. and practice is open to select fans who won a drawing.

Here are three things to watch for at Monday’s practice:

1. The preseason plan. Coaches take different approaches on how much they want their starters — and particularly the starting quarterback — to play in the preseason. Expect Todd Bowles to be asked about what he envisions for Thursday’s contest against the Lions.

2. Will Muhammad Wilkerson break his silence? The Jets defensive lineman has refused to speak since the first day of practice, technically violating the league’s media rules. He still hasn’t practiced since tweaking his hamstring, so we’ll want to know if he thinks he can play on Thursday.

3. There’s a roster battle happening at the outside linebacker position, and Trevor Reilly is probably leading the hunt. A fellow 2014 draft pick, IK Enemkpali, might need to show a little more if he wants to keep a spot on the team.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...e=twitter.com&utm_campaign=NYDNSports+Twitter

Interesting to see IK not winning the battle. All i have heard from him is great, nothing from Reilly.
