RG III for a 4th? im pretty sure there are a few teams that would offer alot more. I dont think they willl get a 1 but a 2 and 4 is more likely. I liked everything else you put into it though.

It's Monday , December 29th at 8am in the morning. The Jets call a press conference. Rex Ryan and John Idzick have been released from the Jets staff. Then your phone rings. It's Woody Johnson and he is offering you your dream job. You are now the GM of the New York Jets. The 2015 NFL draft is only 4 months away and you have some decisions to make. I will be posting my Dream GM post on 12/28/14, right after the Jets Dolphins game. We will post whoever's is the best out of the Jets Fanatics. These must be posted by 12/29/14 at 8am and please, try and keep them a bit realistic please. So, with that in mind, we all want a new regime here. If it's you, do you have what it takes to turn this team around? I hope so.

I'm in!!! Ready to make history as one of the first women GM's!!!

5th Year Team Option
Jet Fanatics
Jet4Life55's GM post

We have also made 2 trades that will impact our 2015 NFL draft. I have traded our #6 pick to the Cleveland Browns for their 2 first round picks, #14 and #18 . I have also acquired Robert Griffin from the Washington Redskins for our 4[SUP]th[/SUP] round pick this year and a conditional pick in the 2016 draft.

And the biggest news, we have signed franchised WR Dez Bryant to an offer sheet. The Cowboys have 3 days from today to match our offer, if they do not, the Dallas Cowboys will be awarded the 14[SUP]th[/SUP] pick in this years draft.

Good stuff but you can't actually do both of these together. If you sign a RFA, you need to have your original pick or better from the round in question. Otherwise, every team would trade all the way down to the bottom of the first round before signing RFAs.

NFL RFA rules said:
Any Club that does not have available, in the upcoming Draft, the selection choice or choices (its own or better choices in the applicable rounds) needed to provide Draft Choice Compensation in the event of a timely First Refusal Exercise Notice may not sign an Offer Sheet in such circumstances.

If I was the Jets General Manager... here's what I would do!

It's 1/13/15 I have just been appointed as the Jets General Manager. I inherited a top 10 draft pick going into the 2015 draft and I have a lot of cap space to work with. Our fans, players, and coaches deserve the best and I plan on building a solid team by finding players that help will build the success for the New York Jets.

Certain areas in this organization have to be in tact for now. We have very little time and we do not have the time to completely clean house the scouting department or front office, because of that I have decided to keep the following personal the training staff, security, pro-player personnel and the scouting dept. They have all put in a lot of hard work leading up to the draft and I will make my decision after the draft whether or not I will keep them.

It's February 2015

During this press conference I will discuss who we hired as head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator.

I am proud to announce the following additions to the Jets coaching staff. First, our new head coach is Dan Quinn. Quinn is a former defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks and has worked for the New York Jets from 2007-2008 as a defensive line coach.

For Offensive Coordinator, Quinn and I have decided to hire Kyle Shanahan. Kyle is a former offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns. He also has experience as a wide receiver coach and quarterback coach working for the Houston Texans. He's also has experience playing as a former football player in Texas and we believe he can add new and innovated scheme to help our offense going forward.

For Defensive Coordinator, We decided to promote Karl Dunbar from Defensive line coach to defensive coordinator. Dunbar has done an outstanding job developing our players on our D-line. He's a talented coach that deserved this promotion. He is responsible for developing Damon Harrison, Muhammad Wilkerson, and Sheldon Richardson to name a few.

March, 2015

Our free agent press conference where we discuss our off season plans and our plans going forward going into free agency. We made some significant moves such as signing players as well releasing players that will impact our roster going forward.

First, we have decided to pick up Quinton Coples's 5th year option on his contract. Coples is a talented player who we feel will be a key player for a defense going forward.

We have approximately 50 million dollars of cap space going forward. I made some important releases and I have decided to release the following players: Percy Harvin, Jason Babin, and Chris Johnson. Which will free up around an extra 15 Million dollars going forward. That leaves us with 65 Million cap space at our disposal. Since we released Harvin we will not have a 6th round pick going into the 2015 draft. Our 6th round pick now belongs to the Seattle Seahawks.

To address our weakness at offensive line we have signed Mike Lupati, G from the 49ers to a 4 year contract. As for our secondary we have signed Brandon Flowers, CB from the San Diego Chargers to a 2 year contract and we have also signed Kareem Jackson, CB from the Houston Texans to a 4 year contract. We have also came to terms with wide receiver Cecil Shorts to a 3 year contract and QB Ryan Mallet to a 2 year contract.

As for our own free agents we have decided to address Wilkerson's contract at the end of the year. His contract will count for 8 million against the cap this season. We have decided to re-sign the following to contracts going forward.

David Harris, ILB
Dawan Landry, S
Bilal Powell, RB
Ledger Douzable, DE
Kendrick Ellis, DT
Damon Harrison, DT
Jaiquawn Jarrett, S
Tanner Pardum, LS
Greg Salas, WR

Not gonna go through the free agency part but I will give my opinion on who the Jets should choose in the draft. Kind of wishful thinking...

Rd 1: Cedric Ogbuehi - OT (Texas A&M)
Rd 2: Bryce Petty - QB (Baylor)
Rd 3: Quandre Diggs - CB (Texas)
Rd 4: Jose Matias - G (Florida State)
Rd 5: Damarious Randall - FS (Arizona State)
Rd 6: Derrick Malone - OLB (Oregon)
Rd 7: Jaxon Shipley - WR (Texas)

That being said, if I was the GM, there would definitely be a free agent CB vet signed. But that's as far as I'll go on that.

Just a heads up your losing a draft pick to the Seahawks due to the Harvin trade. If you keep him it's a 4th if not it's a 6th round pick your losing.

Yeah I thought about that but I wasn't sure what the actual pick lineup was going to be so I just listed all picks. I'd like to see Percy stay but at the same time the 4th round pick I have listed would help the team more than the 6th I have listed.

Same I love Percy, but not for his price tag and his injury issues.

True. With a draft pick like Jaxon Shipley we could replace what he provided. Or with a solid free agent pickup that can also return punts.
