Antonio Allen Achilles injury

I wouldn't say one of the best, but certainly a solid young player, a good kid to have healthy. Tough loss.
Luckily he is no longer our starting CB.

This poor kid can't win for losing. Had a really good year in 2013. A lost yer in 2014, now another lost year. If he can even come back from it
Tough break for Allen. Rontez Miles might make the final 53. He and Jarrett are good backup players.
Sucks for Allen, sucks for us too, but its a golden opportunity for Rontez Miles, if he can take advantage of it.
Hmmm ..... Leonard Williams, Lorenzo Mauldin, Calvin Pryor or Jace Amaro aren't on your list?

Williams hasn't played yet....Mauldin hasn't played yet....Calvin Pryor wasn't very good last year, Amaro had mixed reviews, and is now playing mostly with Petty.
Allen played outstanding in 2013, was playing the wrong position last year, has looked good in camp this year. Got to agree with Bronx....top 10
Starting doesn't make you better. Your resume does. Maudlin hasn't played an NFL down, and Bowles stated in the press conference yesterday he has a long way to go and that Pace is the starter. And until LW does something in an actual regular season game, he also can't be on the list. I think Pryor and especially Amaro will do good,things, but Allen has been better than both IMO.

Saw it. Still think Amaro has done more than Allen. And I like Allen, but I just don't see him as one of the top young guys on this roster.
You are right; Way over rating this guy. A very good depth guy and I hate to see him hurt but come on. Not even a top 25 guy on the team. Don't maybe he could have done this or that, just judge him on what he has done. I hope he makes it back but if not; then he was a JAG.

Allen was out of position last year and held his own. When he plays his natural spot he is actually a playmaker. If you feel Amaro is better at this time , I disagree, but that's fine . Top 8 then

This is another player Rex almost screwed up. At South Carolina is was a Rover LB / SS. Rex gets ahold of him and switches him to CB. The reason was he the the Rover safety in the box is because he's slow. So dumb Rex puts him @ CB. Hope he gets well, but Rontez Miles was looking good so far in camp and Jarrett is already on the 53.

New York Jets safety Antonio Allen went down with an injury in practice Thursday and early indications are could cost him his season.
According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets fear Allen suffered a torn Achilles during practice. He’s scheduled to have an MRI on Friday.
Per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, the injury was in a non-contact setting as he was coming out of his stance. Jets head coach Todd Bowles confirmed it was an Achilles injury, but did not have a diagnosis on the extent of the injury.
A torn Achilles would mean the end of the season for Allen.
Allen appeared in 31 games over the last two seasons while making 17 starts for the Jets.

I agree this probably stunted his development , but he was the only guy Rex trusted to hold down that spot. That's a testament to the athlete that he is. The year before he did a great job covering tight ends and making plays all over the field
