i posted less during the off-season as it was dead time, and i had no interest in reading the geno debates ad naseuem. plus i was on vacation for a week and was busier at work, so had less free time.
as to the impact on the team, i don't honestly see any lingering effect. the players seemed to have been able to move on to fitz with no issues, and i'll just toss last night's clunker in the garbage pail for now. crappy pre-season game. don't take too much out of it.
before camp, i predicted we were a 8-8ish type team, with some upside to 9 or 10 wins if the QB play proved decent. honestly my forecast hasn't changed one bit in the last week.

The last sentence is exactly how I feel now. It's not how I felt a week ago. Too many stupid off the field things that point to immaturity. Never mind the fact that Geno has showed how bad of a QB he can be. I will just be hoping Fitz can develop into a sufficient game manager or better. And more importantly stay healthy all season. And sooner than later, I hope Geno is cut just so we can move on.

If i'm Maccagnen or Bowles i send a message to Geno and the entire team. I fine Geno at least 5 grand and then contribute that 5 grand to the charity IK was trying to promote.
Geno has derailed the beginning of the season by NOT doing the right thing and handling his business with any kind of maturity.
You are the starting QB of an NFL franchise and when i say starting i mean you NEED to play WELL to keep your starting job. You are the worst rated passer the last two seasons, you should've gave IK a thousand dollars just for asking you to attend that event.
By being childish/ immature/ selfish you might have cost yourself at the very least 2 to 4 games to prove yourself. If Fitzpatrick is playing well and theJets are doing good your ass will be on the sideline wishing you paid that money.
I was really looking forward to seeing if Geno had grown into a starting QB with all the offseason work, new coordinator and the new weapons.The good reports coming out of camp and such. Things should've been handled so much better.

As much as I don't think Geno is the answer, I still need to see it to be sure. Not hoping Fitz fails/gets injured, but just as fate made sure Geno wouldn't start the year, I wouldn't mind seeing him put in a spot to prove himself once and for all (and I don't mean his infamous success in meaningless final games).

Incorrect. But I don't believe being delinquent to reimburse someone for airfare is in the realm of punishable. That would be appealed and reversed. You also can't fine a player for being a victim, even if his arrogance put the balk in motion.
One thing I haven't seen, are players coming out outraged that ik punched geno.

Its amazing how stupid Jet fans are for blaming Geno.....
its one thing if Geno lost out with competition..which he may have very well done..but to be happy w these chain of events is asinine.

Fitz, I blame Geno in the sense that he could've handled the situation better.
If the reports are true, that he was in his face waving a finger and saying " you aint going to do nothing about it". That's not good.
We may never know what really happened but if that is event close, then in my opinion he handled it the wrong way.
Again, i'm rooting for Geno,i would like to see him be an above average QB that the Jets can build around and win games with. That would take a lot off of the list of needs for this team.
Did he think he was going to get punched and his jaw broken, no. Did he put himself in a situation where it has an even remote possibility of happening, i think so.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't agree with you. The Geno hatred around here is reaching absurd levels. I don't understand how anyone can root against any player wearing a Jets jersey.
Unless they break a guy's jaw, in which case, you cut his ass and let him go sign with the Bills.
I didn't hate and still don't hate Geno. I just see him for the person he is. I think he is too immature to be the starting QB of any team. He has plenty of arm talent, but no brains. This latest incident just made me see all the red flags and stupid things he has done that I overlooked in the past because I wanted him to be successful. Now its time to move on IMO.
