Another story coming out about IK's temper.

He apparently punched a dude that he thought was a girl. He got catfished. I understand him for punching that person though.

So far it's been a cop, this catfished dude and now Geno.

This is like the Aaron Hernandez situation where we found out more and more victims with each passing moment. :boxing-punch-smiley

Well in all fairness the "policeman" was actually working as a bouncer. A lot of bars use cops as bouncers because the "excessive violence" charge is seldom pressed when another cop is doing it.

This one, well I wonder how many people would react if the women they were about to have sex with, turns out to be a dude.

I don't know who's saying it's is ALL Smith's fault, but one thing is clear, he certainly had more then his fair share of immaturity and blame in this. As Bart Scott said yesterday “I can understand how that situation can escalate, especially because there’s an ATM in the players’ lounge,” said Scott, the former Jets linebacker who is now an analyst for CBS, at the network’s Media Day. “Come on, bro, you’re walking by an ATM every day. It’s just bam, bam, get the money.”

“I’ve never heard anyone get into it with the quarterback,” Scott said. “In my opinion, if you put [former Jets quarterback] Mark Sanchez into that same situation and he couldn’t make it to the charity event or whatever happened, what a quarterback is supposed to do is to give you your $600 and donate $1,000 to your charity. That’s what a leader does. Maybe Geno is too young in the process to understand that and he has to mature more.”

Both of these guys have shown they are immature morons. In all honesty I'm glad neither of them will be starting the season for the Jets.

IK slipping to round 6 is making more sense to me now.

Trouble kind of has a way of attaching itself to certain people. IK's fist has a tendency to keep connecting with other people's faces, I think that's called a pattern.

Let Rex deal with it now. Good riddance.

So I guess the more info that comes out, the more we realize that IK is a bad decision maker. It may not be all Geno's fault.

Not all Geno's fault, but I doubt IK just punches people for no reason. I don't care the reason and I don't care if Geno is at fault, I just don't like my starting QB to be in those types of situations. And Geno seems to find trouble and for a guy that is not that good on the field I just don't think you can bring off field baggage as well. I actually hope Fitz flourishes for one year and then becomes a backup to Petty next year and we move on from Geno. If Geno comes back I will cheer for the teams success, but I doubt I will ever trust Geno to mature or improve to a level needed to be a top 10 QB.

I agree with trouble finding some people. I wonder how far Geno would have dropped if the Jets don't take him.

Yep Rex is dealing with IK now. He was cut as he should have been.

Seems like IK isn't the only one that has trouble attaching itself to them. Or a propensity for violence.

Iowa State DC on Geno Smith getting cold-cocked: 'Didn't surprise me'

Randy Peterson, rpeterson@dmreg.com 4:56 p.m. CDT August 12, 2015

AMES, Ia. – So Wally, are you surprised that a teammate cold-cocked New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith in the jaw?

Pause.

"Didn't surprise me," Iowa State's defensive coordinator Wally Burnham said after practice Wednesday.

Burnham knows all about run-ins with the former West Virginia star, whose jaw was broken by teammate IK Enemkpali during a locker room confrontation Tuesday reportedly over a $600 airplane ticket.

FOR THE WIN
Losing Geno Smith could be a blessing in disguise for the New York Jets

At halftime of the Iowa State-West Virginia game in 2012 at Jack Trice Stadium, Smith ran into Burnham as the teams headed toward their locker rooms.

"I was just walking," said Burnham, who was 71 in 2012. "He pushed me."

One of the first Cyclones on the scene was Wally's son, Shane, who coaches defensive tackles.

"We were holding for the West Virginia team to clear the field," Shane recalled Wednesday. "There was some extra-curricular activity after the last play of the half — Geno didn't appreciate something by somebody, and he took out his frustration on dad."

That didn't sit well with Shane, who did what every son would do.

"I reacted," Shane said. "Part of it is that it's your dad, and part of it is it's your Iowa State brother. It was family and football family for me. It was a double-whammy.

"He had some choice words for dad, and I might have had a few choice words in return."

Shane and Smith talked again on the field before the second half.

"We had a follow-up conversation," Shane said.

Was it nice?

"We continued the conversation," Shane said.

After the game, Cyclones linebacker Jake Knott tweeted:

"G. Smith trying to push over Coach W Burnham at half was the most classless thing I've seen. Esp. from a "leader" #GrowUp"

So after West Virginia won 31-24, did Smith apologize to Wally Burnham?

"You think so?" he responded.

I think Smith deserves one more chance for us to see what he's got but only if Fitz struggles.

From all accounts he's been much improved his offseason. I trust Mac and Bowles. The fact that they saw no need for another ab could mean that Geno is progressing well and that he's better than what's out there

They said after Geno's surgery he would be out 6 to 10 weeks that was aug 10? So around 5 weeks will be gone by opening day..

The earliest I see him playing as a starter is after the bye. But he could be available to come in before that as a backup. Maybe we'll just risk it with Petty for week 1

if smith gets another shot with the jets i'll just have to deal with it & hope for the best..

what I completely disagree with you on E is why smith "deserves" one more chance with us??

Maybe "deserves" is a wrong word to use. Instead I should have said I would like to see him out there one more time but only if Fitz stinks.

These are the reasons why I want to see him out there:

By all accounts he was outplaying Fitz in this year's camp.

I have high confidence in Gailey. I think he has a great offensive mind that has shown to tailor his offenses around the players he has.

Even though Fitz has history with Gailey, he still named Geno as the starter before camp started which means he had a plan for him.

Geno played in a spread in college and was successful.

Disclaimer: I am an extreme optimist when it comes to young players. I hate to run them out of town until they run out of excuses. Only excuse Geno has left is not playing with good talent. This year our offense is stacked.

At this point I don't want Geno, but I might want him if Fitz struggles and only because Petty is not ready. Even though I think Flynn might be better than Geno. I will just trust Bowles and Co. for now.

I agree with what Bart Scott said; The locker room has a ATM in it Geno should have paid IK plus a 1,000 for his charity.. He said as young as Sanchez was something like that never would have happened with him..

He may very well be but does a QB really have to be a leader? Odds are high that he's not a leader of this team. (Sending dick pics, getting thrown off plane, not paying his debt, missing a meeting) But in my opinion, we don't need him to be a leader, we just need him to play well.

The other guys on this offense are all professionals as well, they have a job to do. Whether or not Geno is a leader, the WRs and the rest of the offense needs to go out there and execute their job to their fullest. If they don't come to play bc Geno acts immature in the locker room then they are just as much at fault as they are.

Leading an offense on the field and being a leader of an entire team are two different things. Let David Harris or whoever be the leader of this team, we just need Geno to lead the offense. Make sure people are lined up correctly and run the plays as designed.

I watched scott say it..

i don't want to restart a spit storm but the nerve/gall that smith had to carry IK the way he did, for as long as he did is mind blowing to me!!

when you beg for something don't be shocked when you get it!!

i may think smith's an idiot but i do believe he learned at least that much..

LOLz probably..

This is a good discussion. I'm going to move it to the Geno thread so those that want cut updates can find them.

i completely disagree..

IMHO a huge part of an NFL QB's job is to get grown ass men to rally around you..

how many times have you ever heard offensive players talking about the "command" of the huddle a QB has?? they talk about it because it's human nature to believe something's over prematurely.. leader's don't let that thought process sink in..

hell, i remember hearing about that early after fitzpatrick took over as the starter here..

it part of being an NFL QB E.. period..

look what's happening in DC??

Fundamental issue is you have no idea what type of leader Geno is. You are purely projecting your own dislike of him. You can say he is not the most mature, and the slightly lukewarm reaction to his getting decked is just as likely frustration at the situation as the players not liking him as a leader. He doesn't always come across well in his interviews, but you are just plainly making shit up and acting like it is the truth.
