Cool, I will
Did you ever see that movie?

If you didn't, GET IT and SEE IT, you won't be sorry.

Like I said, its one of the most underrated great movies from that era. I like it better than Scarface, its more real.

Here's how much I like that movie; I'm not saying its better than the Godfather and Goodfellas, but if those two movies are on TV I won't necessarily watch them, seen them too many times, but I never pass on Carlito's Way when its on.

Really is a must see movie. On a side note before retiring out here in Nevada. I worked in customer field services for National Grid originally Brooklyn Union Gas. I worked on Staten Island. One of the people I helped out was Frank Minucci he played Tony Taglialucci in the movie. He had a tough wrong side of the tracks life before and after his acting career but was a nice man the time we spent together.

Agreed that not everyone would step to him, but you and I both know that in the hood if someone beats you for money and flaunts it, and you don't do anything about it, you are essentially a "marked man", everyone will view you as a punk. As Al Pacino said in Carlito's Way (underrated great movie); "The street is watching, she is watching all the time."

One of best movies ever

This is the best song ever written about being a bad ass.
That was good, I especially liked it cause I never heard it before, but nothing beats this Johnny Cash classic.

This is from his legendary live performance, I believe at Folsom State Prison?

Its great to see that other people appreciate this vastly underrated movie. :)

Nick, great story, he did a great job in that movie too.

I agree. But again, I'm not brawling over 600 bucks

Is there ANYTHING you would "brawl over"? If so, I'm pretty sure there are people out there who would say you overreacted, no matter what the circumstance.

I guess I'm old school, cuz I don't know when throwing a punch became such an inexcusable offense. Sure it's usually not ideal, but it's a pretty primal response and a whole lot better option than most of the violence out there . . .

Carlito's Way was and is the shit!!! Love it and have it on DVD. A must have and DVD gangster movie collector for all times. Up there to me with Heat, Goodfellas and ofcourse Scarface. We Own the Night was also a great one.

They tried making a prequel about 10 years ago. Carlito's Way Rise To Power. It was a letdown as I expected. I don't even remember who they cast as a young Pacino.

Put my family's life in danger, you're done. 600'bucks , not a chance. If you think I overreacted to my child's life , too bad. It's laughable to fight over 6 cents, when you make that type of salary

Never a better option, unless the other option is to shoot the person. Also criminal. The Geno thing has made me realize I am completely befuddled by people's acceptance of violence over trivial matters,

Johnny, its not so much acceptance as it is common sense. I think the internet has given people a false sense of security about the things they can and can't get away with in real life. Over the internet there are no real consequences for your actions. You can basically be as provocative as you want to be without fear of consequence. When it becomes dangerous is when you begin to adopt that outlook in your live interactions with people. For example, if I say I want to bang your sister over the internet, physically nothing is going to happen too me. However, how long do you think it will take before I get punched in the face if I say that to guys I meet in real life? You might not punch me in the face if I said it to you, perhaps my friend Bronx wouldn't punch me in the face either, but if I talk to guys like that as a general rule, how long before my luck runs out? Three? Five? Certainly no more than ten. If I'm going out of my way to provoke people in real life the way folks think nothing of provoking people on the internet, it won't be long before I get cracked in the face. That said, if Geno owed this guy money as has been reported, it was common sense to pay the man, lest you provoke a confrontation.

IMO it showed a real lack of common sense on Geno's behalf that he apparently didn't consider the possible ramifications of stiffing the guy for those 600 dollars, which I agree with Bronx is TIP MONEY for these guys, certainly not worth risking a confrontation over, thats why Geno should have paid him and been done with it.

I'll give you a perfect example from my younger days. One time I was in a bar and this one dude clearly had too much to drink. He wasn't falling down drunk, but he was clearly lit up and he had that angry drunk face. Suddenly he starts insisting that somebody stole his 10 dollar bill that was on the bar, and I could see exactly where this was heading if someone didn't resolve the situation peacefully. Somebody was gonna get hurt, probably him, and I didn't want to see anyone get hurt over a lousy 10 dollars. So I told him to relax, offered to give him 10 dollars out of my own pocket, and bought him a drink on top of it. That calmed the situation down and nobody got hurt. Thats how Geno should have handled this situation. 600 dollars is TIP MONEY to Geno Smith. He should have paid the guy on the first day of camp and made sure it didn't escalate.

Does that mean IK gets a pass for punching him in the face?

Of course not, it cost him his job and it should have, but Geno did not use good judgement here either.

We all come from different perspectives. It befuddles me how some keep coming back to 600 dollars and can't understand the punch was thrown because one person was disrespecting another in their personal space. If you have taken a few punches in situations like that before you will make sure you get off the 1st punch. Nothing happens over that 600 then if Geno does not cross the locker room to confront IK face to face.

Exactly, but just the act of not paying him was essentially like slapping him in the face. The amount of money is irrelevant. It could have been 600 dollars or 6 dollars, the point is if you owe someone money you should pay him, lest he feels personally disrespected, which can escalate into an argument, which can then escalate into a violent confrontation as it did.

If Geno couldn't see how this thing could escalate, he wasn't using common sense.

Thanks Ham, great post. Geno showed poor judgement

Get in my face and I'll f you up! Sounds like the hood to me. I'll pass and move on. I've seen enough of that animal behavior

I agree what you are saying about the money. Eventually something was going to happen. My point is the way I heard it recounted if Geno walks away instead of in IKs face they get though that day without a broken jaw and a lost job.

Agreed, that was like throwing salt into an open wound.
