BTW, I don't understand why some people are souring on Amaro. This "doghouse" rap regarding Bowles is unfounded, IMO. Gailey is using him in a different role. Amaro should be a factor in this offense.

I said I would much rather have spent that Cromartie money (and more) on Thomas, and passed on Crow.

I said I'm hopeful Amaro can be an elite No. 1 TE, but I'm not optimistic, though I'd like him as a No. 2 behind Thomas.

I made all of these arguments and more as I desperately lobbied for Julius Thomas who is a TOP 3 TE in all of football in my view, an elite playmaker at the position, the other two being Gronk and Jimmy Graham. Unfortunately I couldn't find any allies. I made what I thought was a convincing argument, but I couldn't sway anyone to the idea.

This brings up the age old hypothetical discussion: presuming to know that the Jets were even in play for Julius Thomas. Nobody in these forums is privy to the negotiations, thought processes, or other factors that made Thomas choose Jax. It's the same thing with other FA's like DeSean Jackson. Fans presume that Idzik could've just hit him over the head with a rubber hose, stuffed his wallet with a check made out to "whatever DeSean wants" and WA LA! He's a Jet!

I, personally, don't believe it works that way.

But it's still fun, I guess, to say "what if?"

Can't explain why we released him so early, but he was signed by the Bears a few days after we released him. He is still on the Bears roster.

julius thomas was a top 3 TE when playing with peyton manning. let's see if he is anything close to a top 3 TE playing with blake bortles.

as to signing thomas over cro, how do you even compare the 2 contracts. cro is on essentially a 1-year deal. he makes $7 million this year and doesn't have another penny guaranteed after this year.

thomas signed a 5 yr, $46 million contract, with $24 mil guaranteed.

Bowles is Excellent at knocking guys down a peg. Like Sheldon practicing with the second team.
Some guys get drafted too high and get an ego. May be a power struggle. Fact is Amaro is a mediocre receiver who plays te despite having zero ability to throw a block.

Just don't put him in coverage across the middle.

Unless you like giving up 60 yards to a fullback. I really hope they keep Coples solely in a pass rushing/run defense role. No coverage this year.

I never understood why they put a 280 pound man in coverage. last year i kind of understood. Our DB's were horrible. Coples was better then most of them.

I keep on reading how Bowles is going to let Coples rush the passer, then this play the other night.

Guys a pass rusher. Let him rush the passer.
