Opening the 2009 season with a rookie QB Jets beat the first 3 teams they faced Texans,Pats and Titans..

My prediction is that the Jets SUCK in 2015 and their record ultimately proves what I am saying. 8-8 at best. more likely 7-9.

week 1 vs browns i see as a win on paper it seems we have the better team-------1-0
week 2 vs colts i like our secondary but it may take a few games to fully gel and luck is a top QB-------1-1
week 3 I have a feeling we are going to tear that secondary apart esp the rookie they have starting---------2-1
week 4 no home field advantage here usually i say we split but i think we are the better team-----------3-1
week 5 bye----------3-1
week 6 the skins have as many questions at qb as we had the last few years we win----------------4-1

Found this interesting. This is a listing of the spread for all the games through week 16 from a Vegas sports book. Of course, odds at this point are skewed more to what a team did last year rather than potential so it will be interesting to see the changes to this in a few weeks

Defensively we are very strong. Offense is our problem. We are missing 3 important units. TE, we don't have a TE. Granted in Gailey's system TE is not used much. QB, Fitspatrick is really a career backup. Of course he has started but he is not the guy you really want to lead your team. He is all we have right now. 3rd is the Offensive line. You can talk all you want on how great D'Brick and Mangold was. WAS! Its not a strong area anymore. Giacomoni is awful for a RT. Our RB's are on there own. Our offense is going to be, short pass, short pass, short pass or run, run, short pass and as much as you'll hate this. The rest of the season will be F^&$-+# Quigley, can't you punt the ball.
Vegas odds have nothing to do with an assessment of a team's actual ability or realistic win totals, it is 100% about finding the balance point for wagering on what the gamblers perception is.

If Fitz remains the starter, I see the Jets being a 10-6 team.
I think, for the first time in a long time, they will be a fairly consistent team week in and week out.
They are going to have the same game plan regardless of the opponent. Pound the ball up the middle, setting them up for 3rd and shorts. The key on offense will be keeping the completion rate over 60%, and very few turnovers. An occasional long ball to keep the D's honest, and off the LOS. Long time consuming drives, that end in points.
The defense looks solid, and should be very hard to run against. If they are putting their opponents in 3rd and long, the new additions to the secondary should come up with some turn overs. Which hopefully will lead to points.

Take a look at that schedule. I'm taking the over. Jets go 12-4!!
As long as those points come in groups of 6 and not groups of 3 like they have in recent seasons.
You have to run to win, but you have to throw to score.
Fitz is a downgrade at QB because of his lack of playmaking ability. I think there is no chance Fitz wins 10 games. None.

Optimally you want to end drives with TD's. Some how I suspect not all drive will end that way. If they go about 50-50 with TD's and FG's score 23-27 points a game, they will win a good bit of football games.
What you can't have is driving down to the 28 yard line, scrambling back to the 40, and getting sacked. Coming away from a nice drive with 0 points.
You may be right, but Fitz is an upgrade in smarts so if he has less TO's and mental errors doesn't that make him an upgrade??
I am not even sure Fitz is smarter. He is just more experienced. Geno had a lot to learn about coverages and throwing windows and adjustments, in a system that provides very very difficult and complicated reads and lots of timing which makes the learning curve even higher. That is one of the points of the Gailey system is clean reads so I think Geno will seem "smarter" in Gaileys system
You might be right. Fitz as a human is definitely smarter than Geno and more experienced and knows this system inside and out. Hopefully Fitz succeeds and we don't have to go back to Geno. The offense needs to find rhythm. Based on both their track records all we can do is hope because they both are below average for their careers. Make a run at WC and hold the fort for Petty.
