Are we Jets fans delusioned about this season?

jets82 , great thread my man. Here is my take on it:

Had the Jets had the roster that Rich Kotite fielded back in '95, in which the team had absolutley nothing and we as fans begin talking about playoffs, then yes, i would agree with the media pundits.

Yet this 2015 New York Jets are loaded. The core players are still here that are leaders in Nick Mangold, D'Brick, Revis, Harris, Wilkerson & Cro. Veterans that have been added that provide another level of Dimensions to win games that normally we'd lose in Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker (2014), Buster Skrine, James Carpenter. We have young studs that will be groomed in an environment that breeds success. Those players are in positions to contribute this year as well in Devin Smith, Leonard Williams, Lorenzo Mauldin IV, and even 2nd year OLB Trevor Reilly.

This 2015 team shouldn't be viewed by fans through green colored glasses, rather based on actual facts. They have depth that the great ones have. We have a power and finesse run game. A dominant O-Line to equal our D-Line. By far one of the best secondaries in the league. Sure our QB has been a journey man, but so was Trent Dilfer & Brad Johnson when they won their respective superbowls with talented defensive teams.

I feel one thing that the media over looks not many times but ALL the time is the DISCIPLINE of the team being fielded. In all honesty, the 2014 New York Jets, even with no CB's, we were in many games in position to win. What kicked Rex in the nuts the majority of the time, was the lack of accountability the players had. They'd get an "ITS OK WE'LL GET'em NEXT TIME "approach. Not with Coach Bowles. the team had only 4 penalties in the season opener. IMHO, This is no fluke. Todd preached this day one with his team and voiced it in the Jets locker room after the Cleveland game.

Let the media knock on the Jets. Let the know-it-alls say that the Jets arent a play-off team. If memory serves me well, this franchise makes a living off proving the world wrong when everyone counts us out:

Excellent post and I do agree with all of your points, thanks for the props BTW. The Jets were very disciplined under Bowles last Sunday. Something they seemed to know nothing about under sexy rexy for 5 or was it 6 years? Anyway, with the talent we have, young, old and in between they can make some true noise this year. Playoffs included!

Be in every game, win 10-11 of them at least as long as they stay fairly healthy, play smart, execute hard and fast and stay disciplined within their game plan. So the pundits or whomever can sleep on them. When has that not been the case anyway and your right, they seem to work best under those conditions anyway. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!!!

something tells me someone who refers him in the third person and uses green font and calls them jersey jets rationalization is not your strong point.
Green font when the top three of HYATT™'s favorite teams all wear some shade of green? (Packers, JAX, Jets)
Nah, no "rational" reason to like using green fonts.
(Aside from making HYATT™ posts much easier to relocate when necessary, given the shear number of them.)

We've been down the whole "Jersey" controversy a thousand times.
We have agreed to disagree but HYATT™ has a SOUND and LOGICAL premise for his opinion.

HYATT™ is an imaginary web construct.
Rational would be to speak in the 3rd person for such an imaginary character.
IRrational would be for Bob Hyatt to start talking like he holds the same opinions as HYATT™ - which, in his many biases and prejudices, he does not.
It's an effort to write as HYATT™, trust both of us on that. :scratching-head-smi

As for the team going (10-6), HYATT™ thinks more like (11-5) and possibly a WC round bye even.
Nobody in the AFC is going to run away with their division this season.
PIT-BAL-CIN will keep the AFCN a rat's nest.
SDC, DEN, & KCC will snarl the AFCW right up until Week 17.
Indy and HOU pretty much have a lock on the AFCS, but TEN might throw a monkey wrench, or at least a hex key or two, into that equation.
The AFCE is up for grabs, literally.
(11-5) could be the #1 seed in the AFC this season, given how strong so many of the NFC teams are.
SEA, AZC, SFO, St.L, GBP, DET, MIN, DAL, PHI, the NYG, CAR, the NOS, and ATL - ALL have a real shot at the playoffs this year.

So lets access this game or the past two games really. The D is phenomenal, the offense is steady and formidable and special teams ain't bad either. This could turn out to be a great year if they keep playing like this. Like I said, the D will win us 6-7 games but keep us in every game really. The offense will have to do their part to help win 3-4 and the offense/special teams may have to outright win 1-2. If my numbers add up correctly, on the low side they win 10 and the high side they win 12 games. I would say tonight the D won this game for us with 5 turnovers. Can't really give a lot of credit to the offense because if they did their part, we would have scored about 7-10 more points.

You know what I noticed?? How we gave up a TD late and our offense for first time in probably a decade answered with authority.

Yeah, that was sweet! The D gave up that TD because they were gassed. The O wasn't helping them at all. When it came time for the O to show and prove they did so but they could or should have moved the ball enough to have 6 to 10 points at least.

Open your eyes 10- 6 is possible and has been my prediction for a long as Fitz keeps starting insert Geno and all bets are off.

Open your eyes 10 - 6 is not possible and has been my prediction. Don't count on wins against the Pats or Buffalo and more than 1 win from Miami.

It's very possible. if the team plays at this level then the Jets will have a very favorable schedule

If all it takes for the team to keep winning is my being delusional, then I'll gladly be delusional.

barring major injuries, this is a playoff team. compared to 2009, this team is in better hands because the QB doesn't need red light-green light-yellow light on his wristband. We have a Harvard grad compared to Sanchez that only has to not screw it up. Fitz is light years advanced in Gailey's offense that allows him to keep the Jets in proper formations and protection schemes.

Hoping for 10-6, thinking 9-7. Fitz is mediocre.

Over the last 32 games PFF has rated Fitz #9 . Over the last two games Fitz has put up better numbers then any Jets QB since 2008.

If that's the definition of mediocre I'll take it over what we have had for the last 7 years.
