Thy got embarrassed in the opener, Buffalo ran them out of the building, so expect to see their A-Game next week.

Thats just the way it works in this league, if you've been following this league for any length of time you should know that, its always tough to beat a good team the week after they've lost, especially after they get embarrassed.

Only the novice fan looks at that game and expects to see the same Colts team the following week.

Possible, but not likely.

Its far more likely that we will get their A-Game next week. The coach is in a bad mood, the players are in a bad mood, their franchise QB is in a bad mood, even their fans are in a bad mood, their facility will be a miserable place to be around this week, and by next week they will be chomping at the bit to get that bad taste out of their mouths.

That doesn't mean we can't beat them. There's a chance that they're just a bad football team, but I wouldn't count on it and that QB is always dangerous, especially in the dome.

This is not a concession speech. I think they're a good team, but not a great team, so its not like we can't go down there and beat them, but I can promise you this, if we bring anything less than our A-Game, we we can't match their intensity, if we don't go down there ready for a fight, if we think we're gonna see the same team Buffalo manhandled on Sunday, we will NOT walk out of that building with a W.

I hope thats the message Coach Bowles sends to his team all week, because it happens to be true.

I'll tell you something else, if we don't get a better pass rush on Luck than we did on Cleveland's QB's, not counting the 4th Qtr when the pass rush finally started getting there, we will have NO CHANCE to win this game. In fact its a shame that Mauldin got hurt because I would have started him in this game ahead of Pace. Verses the Colts in the dome you don't need a situational pass rusher on 3rd downs, EVERY DOWN is a passing down, especially in that building. It would have been nice if we could have rotated Mauldin and Reilly to get after Luck, but as is I would start Reilly for sure, his skill set off the edge is far more valuable to us than Pace's jack of all trades and master of none.

Thats my opinion, what say you?

They are one of the softest teams in the league. Ivory should have 150.
That might be true, but teams can mask a lot of deficiencies in this league with effort and passion, and expect to see plenty of both from Indy next week. This team won 11 Games last year and they have an elite QB. This is not the little sisters of the poor. Don't be fooled because they laid an egg on opening day. They are not William & Mary and we are not Ohio State.

Believe me I know how good they are. I just know the one thing they do well is throw the ball and we have a very good secondary. I know they can't stop the run and that is our strength. And TY Hilton may be hobbled.

We have some things going for us, no doubt about it, you're right that WE SHOULD be able to run the ball with authority and control time of possession, which is a big key for beating a franchise QB, play keep-away, and defensively we have enough talent to make things very difficult on the Colts, so I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment, all I'm saying is, its about a lot more than X's & O's, if we don't match their intensity we are not winning this game.

If we come out flat in the first quarter like we did verses Cleveland, we could be down 17-0 before we can blink, and if we don't bring more of a pass rush to start this game, WE WILL be down 17-0 before you can blink. We're stepping up in competition next week. This is a legit playoff team from a year ago, its their home opener, and they are coming off an embarrassing defeat. We're getting their best shot, so nothing less than our best shot will suffice.

I just refuse to let my emotions get out of control from play to play or week to week. I want to see how this CS deals with Cro's injury and losing Mauldin for awhile. I want to see growth each week from the offense and get through the 1st 4 games at 2-2.

i'm not that interested in how "angry" the colts will be..

i'm more interested in if coach bowles will have his team ready to get a road win on national television & get to 2 - 0..

turn their "anger" into "frustration" by putting feet to throats & keeping them there all damn night!!

be the more disciplined focused team next monday night..

i suspect that our boys will do just that based on what they showed after the first 27 minutes yesterday..

I think what you mean is you'll be content with 2-2 so long as you see improvement from week to week, and thats a fair way to look at it, but deep down inside we both want to be 4-0 :)

You got that right. I want to be 4-0, but I'm realistic and know list of stuff would have to bounce our way. I would like to see the team build chemistry and confidence.

EXACTLY!!

Thats all I care about too, that Coach Bowles has his team ready to match or exceed Indy's intensity. We all expect Indy to play like a desperate team next week in their home opener on national TV, coming off a thrashing at Buffalo, at least we all should expect it, but there's no law against us being equally hungry to win that football game and get to 2-0. I'm just hoping Bowles has his team prepared to meet and exceed Indy's intensity, that too me is the key, because I DO believe we can beat this team in their building, provided we come ready for a dogfight.

Excellent post. Let The Colts get angry or want to show case that week one was a fluke. IMHO, Bowles will have this team prepared as well.

Let's not get it twisted, The Colts will get our "A" Game as well. It took the Jets a little bit to get into the flow of things, as it is always the case in week one. It was evident in the second half that our defense played stellar and didnt allow another point on the board. Let's not discount that fact.

Sure the proverbial rebuttle will be: "Well Manzeil isn't Andrew Luck". Get this:
Luck is playing OUR defense, we aint playing HIM. He has to adjust to us. We know what he has to offer. He has no clue what Coach Bowles game plan is against him.

Let the Colts bring what ever up tempo BS they want. If they think playing Buffalo was tough, by the time the game ends, if they take us lightly, their going to feel like they got hit by a Mack truck.

Indianapolis.....BRING IT!

The Colts have a great QB. And a offense that will do well at home on the speed track. But let's not fool ourselves, they are not a very good TEAM. You can beat their defense up, and they consistently have horrible offensive line play. Our game plan should be to pound the rock and control the clock

Absolutley, i don't get this "Superiority" that fans have with the Colts playing us. Hell, we have a team that can go toe to toe with the best of them.

I couldn't agree with you more, Ham. But there's also no need to overthink this. WE are the underdogs in this. The line on this will probably have us losing by 10. But here are the facts:

1)The Colts pass the ball extremely well, but we have a very good secondary.

2) The Colts do not defend the running game very well and running the ball is the one thing this team has done well on offense over the last two seasons.

3) The Colts OL is quite suspect and DL is probably the Jets biggest strength.

So just about everything that they do well, we are also very good at defending. In some cases, what they do truly BAD, we just so happen to EXCEL at.

So, on paper, this looks like a very hotly contested game. But these games are not played on paper. The Jets need to show up, match their intensity, play good, hard turnover free football, and continue to play well at the things they've always done well at in the past.

And because the Jets were just 4-12 last season, even after they show up and do exactly what they are supposed to, they will still be in for a dog fight. The Colts are no slouch and they certainly will not be come Sunday.

The Jets absolutely MUST start fast or else they have no shot.

TY Hilton should be out for this game. Revis should be on Moncrief

I would say it will be the opposite of what we are use to seeing from this team. I believe we will be MUCH more physical upfront on offense and run down the throats of the Colts which will be NEEDED because.....

Andrew Luck will carve us apart if we can't find a pass rush with Richardson out. Luck is a Stud and if McCown can make us look as bad as he did pre-injury then Andrew Luck is going to carve us up. I hope and pray I am wrong.

Luck will do well , but we can still win despite that. Not having Hilton will slow him a bit
