One of the biggest differences on offense that I have noticed this season vs recent past is that the pass protection is nearly flawless. So my question is why is it so much better when 80% of the group is the same from last year's mess? Is it coaching/scheme or is it QB recognizing what the defense is going to do and making the proper adjustments? One other thing I have noticed regarding pass protection is that we are getting excellent work out of non-OL like Powell, Enunwa, Davis, Bohanon, and dare I say Cumberland. Regardless, it is working very well and making life bearable for Fitz while in the pocket.

alot has to do with gaileys oc system is a quick read plus as you heard last night fitz and marshall have a hand single thing going that cutler either didn't want to do with marshall or couldn't grasp.

it has more to do with the fact that fitz is very very smart and i would say 90 percent of the time knows where he wants to go with the ball at the line of scrimmage.

been awhile since we had a QB that could read a defense.

I think it's a combination of the Qb and the Style of offense. Fitz is on the record that he wants to have a career after football so he protects himself out there by limiting his hits and getting rid of the ball early. If nothing is there either chuck it deep or check down.

no offense ham, but weren't you one saying that we had no chance to compete with fitz as the QB. that we were better off tanking the season to get a REAL QB? i find it hard to bash the media and the football public at large for overlooking the jets when many jets fans were expressing the same opinions.

What I liked about this game was the fact that the Colts believed that stopping the run and let Fitz beat them would give them the advantage. The problem with that philosophy is you have to create pressure and have corners to challenge our receivers. Colts did great stopping the point of attack; but couldn't cover us on the back end.

i was amazed at the stat they showed last night (apologies if posted elsewhere, i haven't read the thread) that in the last 2 years combined, the jets had something like 28 takeaways, and now this year, after 2 games, we have 10.

We have way too many weapons. It would have been fun to see what Amaro could have been in this offense running around as the te

Hopefully Petty is like a sponge just now and learning lots from Fitz. Barring a complete meltdown, I'd be happy getting Fitz signed up for next year, with the aim of passing on his knowledge for Petty to step into the pocket in 2017.

It is astonishing the difference that Mike Mc, Todd Bowles and the rest of the CS have made in the last 6 months!

I disagree about the Colts. No, they are not in the Patriots league, few teams are, but they are a perennial playoff team with a franchise QB and they played in the AFC Title Game last year. These guys are no pushovers, especially in that dome. They might be easy pickings for the Patriots, but not a lot of teams are walking into Indy and dominating their offense the way the Jets defense did tonight. Its one thing for the Colts to lose on the road verses Buffalo, its tough to win on the road in this league, especially in the other teams home opener, but its quite another to get dominated in your own building in your home opener, thats why this Jets win over Indy, a quality opponent in my view, is a lot more impressive than Buffalo's win over Indy. This was an eye-opening early season win for the Jets, the kind of win that makes people take notice.

I respect your disagreement, but I'll go one step further, most of the allegedly top teams aren't top. The Ravens, the Colts, and now the Seahawks are showing their real side. THOSE TEAMS HAVE CRAP FOR COACHING AND WILL ONLY BEAT CRAP COACHED TEAMS.
This was apparent last year, but the sports media, expert, blabbermouths kept talking these teams up.

The upside of all this is any good team with good coaching can vault over these media darlings and be a real top team. There are only two teams at the real, real top to beat; the Pats and Packers, everyone else is a media darling creampuff. The Seahawks/Russell and the Colts/Luck are nothing but media hot air and they were allegedly going to take down the Pats and Packers...major bullbleep!
GO JETS!

Not when you look at the disfunctionality that is Rex Ryan coached teams. The entire environment appears different, more professional and better prepared. How many times in the RR era did we follow up victories with no-shows? Now it is a long season, but this is a very nice start.
